Colin took one of my damaged Jane Eyre books (1898) and completely rebuilt the spine. I can't believe how good it looks now. He sent me progress shots as I was keen to see how the process worked and he also was wonderful to chat to when I dropped off and picked up the book. I plan to take many more of my books to him!

Colin brought a 200 year old chemistry dictionary back to life! I’ve had the book for over 50 years, passed down through our family. It was in a poor condition with the covers missing or damaged but the text in tact. The book now looks fantastic with leather binding, it’s as good as how I imagined it was as new. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Colin to anyone who wants a treasured book skillfully repaired or conserved.

Colin restored the book sympathetically and now we can read items such as how to fill your own teeth, and the etiquette of leaving calling cards, without worrying that the book will fall apart. The book was passed down to my wife (a very keen gardener) from her grandfather and father and holds great sentimental value for her. It was in a very poor state of stability in spite of various attempts to repair which over the long term were more detrimental to its overall condition. Colin carried out a superb and sympathetic restoration of the whole containment and binding arrangement such that the book can now be enjoyed with confidence and without fear of further damage and loosening of pages. The end result is a book which looks and feels as near as it could practically be to its original state which was the prime objective of entrusting him with the restoration work.
