Business overview

Sellers of Fine Bicycles

At Bell’s we believe in having an adventure every day. Whether you are by the sea, in the countryside or in town, for leisure or pleasure, have fun on your bicycle, avoid the traffic jams and cut a dash.

Founded and run by Meg Williams-O’Mara, a vintage bike enthusiast, the shop contains an ever-changing selection of bicycles. From the super fast fixed wheel track bikes of the 40’s, the ultra elegant Dutch loop frame of the 20’s to the very simple town bikes made in the 70’s/80’s.

Bell’s is a cornucopia of elegance and engineering. Even the names of these bicycles conjure up another world- the Hero Royale, the Raleigh Caprice, the Cameo Classic.

Bell’s bicycles are sourced from all over the South East and the shop runs an energetic ‘lonely bicycle’ campaign, where pre-loved but now unused vintage bicycles are bought, restored and sold to new owners. You can even find the entire Pashley and Bronx bicycle range at Bell’s, vintage chic with contemporary engineering.

Good bikes but …

Rented five adult bikes - 15 each for four hours. A fabulous cycle to Bexhill and back. Really enjoyable. However one bike had a puncture. Luckily it was outside High Tide cycles who fixed it for £14. No refund from Bells Bicycles though, despite asking politely. A shame.

Horrible experience...

1
Outrageous service, ordered a bike 3weeks ago with agreement that it will be delivered 3 weeks after order. Have been in touch with them for progress and payment details over these weeks only to be informed today after 3 weeks have passed and I have enquired them regarding my bike, just to say that it has been delayed and I need to wait 5-6 weeks more for it. They have taken a deposit for the bike from day 1 "to secure it", processed payment through my workplace through bike2work scheme and waited till invoice was paid to say they don't have my bike. Customer service useless, phones switched off, no way of contacting them. Not recommended, please avoid this company as they are frauds and take your money without having item for sale. AVOID! SCAMMERS.

Excellent retro/vintage bike shop

My idea of the perfect shopping experience is pretty much matched by Hastings' Old Town, in particular George Street. What I want is secondhand vinyl and book specialists, a sweet shop, a proper tobacconist (though I don't smoke), a hardware shop, haberdasher, junk/curio shops and one of the nation's finest vintage/retro bicycle shops.
I bought a brand new cycle from here after spending a few months eyeing up different models, both new and vintage. The range of traditional accessories are pleasing to the eye and service is always with a smile. Repairs and servicing is never a problem for Meg and her team.
Though I've now got my bike I still enjoy just browsing.
