Reviews

Caveat emptor

1
I dislike writing negative reviews. However, in this instance there is good justification. We took two excellent STIHL Chainsaws into Battle Mowers for servicing. Fee, over £200. On collection BOTH stopped working after an hour or so of wood cutting. On taking the chainsaws back to Battle Motors they said both motors had failed due to lack of lubrication (oil added to fuel, as the motors are 2 stroke). I pointed out that they had filled and charged us £5 for a new tank of their fuel for both machines. They claimed that it must have been for the fuel we added. I asked how probable it was that two chainsaws self destructed immediately after a service. They admitted it was unlikely; shrugged their shoulders and said it was our responsibility. I then said, 'so we have two wrecked chainsaws after your service, perhaps you could do us a deal on a new one?' They agreed and said they would contact us with a discount that afternoon. Well, it’s been over week and nothing. Caveat emptor.

Not impressed

Its a great shame, really. Battle Mowers appear to have a first class facility but they are shambolic when it comes to communicating. They overcharged me and when I complained they just didn't respond - at all. Eventually, I just paid up and resolved not to use them again.

Poor serbice

1
Poor service, did not repair my strimmer as promised. Continuous excuses saying that part was not delivered three times, the last excuse was that it had been sent to wrong address!
Very unhelpful, I had to chase them to get any response and eventually picked my equipment up and had to take elsewhere to get repaired without any issues. I would never use them again nor recommend, very poor customer service and a take it or leave it attitude.

Very Disappointing

1
I was very interested and disappointed to hear of a friend’s recent experience which was very similar to mine some time ago with Battle Mowers. I needed a welding repair to a ride on lawnmower deck which had deteriorated quite badly. After some weeks with them and hearing nothing, I was told that it could not be repaired but they could sell me a new machine. I decided not to let that be the last word, and subsequently got the repair I was very happy with elsewhere. However, Battle Mowers landed me with what I thought was an unreasonable bill for transporting the machine considering I lived only 3 miles from their premises. When questioned about it they claimed that cleaning of the deck was necessary and incurred an additional cost. In the subsequent repair, there was no evidence of cleaning I was told! I have to add that phone call manner on one call was defensive and bordering on rude. I agree, they seem to be inefficient and economical with the truth.
