Battle Flatts Veterinary Clinic

If I could have given a zero I would have. 2 years ago my Irish Setter was diagnosed with Cushings. He was very ill last May, I took him to another vet who diagnosed over medicated on Veroryl. The bill for that due to being in hospital was £2200, they did save his life. Medication was halved and he recovered, i was threatened with court over bills from battle flats. As a pensioner on limited income they agreed to let me pay£100 per month which I have been doing. Yesterday I had to have my dog put to sleep, and I received an outstanding bill of £568 from battle flats to be paid within 5 days or legal action would be taken. I called yesterday extremely upset and angry, I then received a call from a young man today who needs training on his people skills. I told him I wouldn’t be paying anymore in fact I feel like taking action against them for the stress they have put me through. This practice is totally money oriented. I would never take another pet to them.

Staff think it’s funny to take pictures of your injured animals grinning away, accidentally show you it and then flick past said picture. When you confront them they lie and say they never had a photo of a veterinary nurse with the animal in any pictures. Then later down the conversation say there was a picture with an animal the same but not yours. Just be honest and learn from your mistakes so it doesn’t happen to anyone else in such a hard time for them already. They make you out to be a lier because they can not own up to their own mistakes and learn to move on from this.

Apart from the above the animal was looked after as much as we know as we were not behind there so don’t know if they have take know more pictures etc. we just hope not and he was laid to rest in piece and not passed around.

Absolutely fantastic level of care here. We wouldn't take our rats anywhere else now. The level of expertise, kindness, and success rate are beyond any other vets we know of, especially for rodents. Despite the high risks of surgical procedures with them, Battleflats have never lost one of our girls, and have also delivered great advice and aftercare.

DO NOT take your chickens here! I took my two hens here when they started feeling and looking poorly. I’m a first time chicken owner and stated this clearly, that I need a bit of education on how to care properly. The vet didn’t offer any. I did not know you needed to de worm them every 3 months, and only read this after looking for parasite treatment on the web. Second we didn’t over £100 pounds on the two vet visits and on the useless antibiotics they prescribed and they still had the nerve to send a bill asking for more money when on my last visit I was told we owed nothing as we had paid in advance. This practice has made my girls suffer longer than necessary by not giving or suggesting the right courses of treatments. I’ve had to research and do it all on my own! Our girls are family loved pets and they just weren’t given the level of care I would expect from a vet!

We called this vet on the same day we notice our pet eat, Lilith having breathing issues. Not only did we get to see the vet shortly thereafter, but she received excellent care. Lilith was initially prescribed antibiotics, but after a second visit due to her deteriorating condition the following day, a more extensive checkup was done. Our vet, Gemma, told us she had a rare heart condition and gave us a new set of medication. She was compassionate when giving us our options and answered all of our questions. We were unsure Lilith would make it, but we saw a drastic improvement in her health once she had the medication. We called up again to update Gemma and she was relieved, as she had expressed a genuine concern for her. If you take your pets here they will undoubtedly receive wonderful care. Thank you Gemma!
