We have received nothing less than excellent and thorough service from Nigel and Mark Barr, from beginning to completion. They answered questions thoughtfully, were friendly and knowledgeable, the cost of installing our woodburner was reasonable, and their expertise was deployed efficiently and on time, with no fuss or bother. We would recommend their work unreservedly.

Disappointed in service

Pleasant and efficient service but much less thorough than previous chimney sweeps we've had. Gave the chimney a damning verdict but a more recent second opinion, from a sweep who took much longer and made several further tests with different equipment, gave it the all clear. We're glad we double checked as we didn't want the expense of the new fireplace Barr were offering to sell us after their inspection.

Barr Chimney Specialists in Portsmouth are HETAS solid fuel engineers. We fit woodstoves and liners and carry out chimney maintenance. Obviously, we advise customers about different safety issues if appropriate. BUT we do not fit or sell fireplaces and therefore are rather surprised and confused by the review. We are aware that there are a number of companies around the UK with similar names.

Still great service 15 years later.

We first contacted Barr Chimney Specialists in 2003, they did an excellent job then, so we didn't need to search around for someone to help us this time, Barr Chimneys quickly and efficiently dealt with the problem and left the stove looking as new. Thanks Barr Chimney Specialist, we wouldn't ask anyone else.
