However today I order my same sandwich or baguette I should say. So the service was quick as normal, however when I go to bite in to my sandwich I notice a strange object which was not roast beef or butter. I take the baguette back and the person round the back who clearly prepares the food comes back out and says it was a piece of string of the roast beef I have 'swapped it' for a new one. However this was a lie as first of all it is impossible for the woman to cut the roast beef in that short space of time, secondly she had not made me a fresh one as all the baguettes are kept out the front and she had not taken a new one. Then I get to the end of my sandwich and I find a long hair wedged in-between the roast beef. I feel physically sick, by that time it was to late to take the baguette back but I would advise to stay well clear of this so called sandwich shop.
Oh! Ben, We're sorry that you had a less than great experience today! As explained, the small piece of string was from a butchers cord used to roll the topside in place when roasting in our oven, when cooled, the cord's removed and the beef hand sliced, often the cord cuts into the meat and becomes embedded, it's easy to miss! And this is what happened to you! we unreservedly apologise, we're happy to refund your money and to make amends. Interestingly the beef was being sliced whilst you were being served (that's how we could show you the loops of cord from the beef roll and have a replacement baguette made so quickly) As for the hair, this is a dreadful turn of events and one that should never happen, we are trying to understand how this could possibly happen! however, thank you for drawing our attention, we will revisit our procedure, and review our best practice to ensure that this never happens again. Feel free to visit us any time to make amends for your disrupted lunch hour.
