They don’t want tourists
1
They don’t want foreigners. 5 of us got refused a drink as soon as we entered the pub. The blonde girl behind the bar told us “my manager saw you drunk and cannot serve you”. I asked her to call the manager so I could speak to him. He said “two of my bar staff saw one of your buddy drunk and this is Scotland if you are drunk cannot serve you” (he repeated that twice). I asked him to point to me which of my friend looked drunk and he didn’t want to point the finger. We had just come out of a restaurant next door and were not drunk. Looking around the room we were the only tourists.

We went here to watch my friends band and this was my first time here. Its a bit rough to look at inside however everyone had fun the staff were great and the pub is what it is its a live music bar and it has own style. I would come back.

Music lovers haven

Bannermans is one of several city centre bars frequented by the heavy metal/alternative crowd. Unlike its nearest neighbour Banshee Labyrinth it has a lot less tourists coming in and because it is also a live music venue it seems to attract a crowd mostly made up of local musicians and the bar staff of other venues.
Bannermans is a bit grungey but is a good place to chill out at the end of your night, you should also take the opportunity to pick up a free cd of local bands which is a nice bonus.

Rock Out!

Loved this pub, loved the layout of the cavern-like rooms and love the live bands. The atmosphere is great as it is usually like-minded music lovers that go there. The only down-side is that it gets very hot and sweaty when it's busy, but other than that, no complaints about this place, go check it out!
