Business overview

Probably the best salt beef bar in London. This family run salt beef bar produces the most melt in your mouth beef you will ever taste. Based in Hatch End and Edgware.

For over 30 years, B&K has thrived as a successful family business. Our core values have always been to server tradition homemade food of a high quality and at a fair price. These values have been upheld by Bambos' sons Michael and Johnny over the last 25 years and, now, by his grandchildren. With the passing time many of the old salt beef bars have closed - home pickled salt beef has become increasingly rare. B&K Salt Beef bar prides itself on pickling all its own salt beef as well as making the vast majority of items on the menu. These include lokshem puddings, latikkas, gefifte fish, chopped liver, chopped herring, chicken soup, bean and barley soup and many other tradition dishes. B&K Salt Beef Bar has recently opened a second restaurant situated in Hatch End. this new restautant will continue to uphold the core values that have helped to build the good reputation of this family run business.

Disappointed, not as expected

Visited B&K last week with my wife, we both ordered chicken soup and a plate of salt beef with a latke. Unfortunately the soup was very salty and must have had a quantity of chicken cubes added and the salt beef was very thin and probably pressed beef. I did see salt beef cut at the counter for sandwiches. We were nicely served and when I was asked about the meal I told the waitress the meat was not as expected. She gave a Very poor response about quality salt beef.

Deli / Diner

Slightly reminiscent of the Brooklin Deli. I had a portion of saltbeef ... nothing to write home to your mom about. Plus the guy behind the counter charged me for extras, that I haven't had. No atmosphere and the place was empty ...

Yum yum yum

Really nice place. Friendly, old fashioned service.

Jewish style food - chopped liver to die for, portions stupidly big, enough salt beef in a sandwich for 2 sandwiches!

Great prices.

Try it - you might mike it!

Filling, Fattening, Fabulous

Satl beer, chopped liver, egg and onion, lokshen (noodle) pudding with sultanas, apple strudel, worsht, smoked slamon and cream cheese bagels, fried fish balls, boiled gefilte fish, apple strudel and halva. Just point. I was first through the door when they opened. I'd been standing peering in, tapping my watch and raising my eyebrows for days. Exactly the food you want if you've ever been to their branch in Edgware or their Northwood Hills branch which closed and was replaced by this one. Hatch End has easier parking, in the service road outside and a car park across the road off Grimsdyke Road.
(The Hatch End traders association is fighting attempts by the council to ruin Hatch End by installing meters. The traders have a website.)
You can sit in
Friendly, smiling people, always busy and ready to take your order, answer your question, dash to the kitchen to fetch hot food for you.
Wallpaper is a black pattern of plants on white with one traditional framed photo at the back. The food is the thing.
Returned for an evening meal. Great service. Just look up and they see you straight away. I found the chips a bit too crisp and they made me more. I'd go for the latkes next time.
