AVOID

I wanted to get a second opinion for my cat's eye condition. On the first appointment the vet couldnt get the cat out of the crate (was never a problem with previous vet) and said the cat would need to be sedated to take a sample (no surgery) and it would cost between £330 and £380. Took her to the 2nd appointment to take the sample in the London road clinic and was told my cat would need to stay there all day; I would understand that of it was a surgery BUT not a sample but I guess they need to justify charging this kind of money. No one explained to me in the first appointment that it takes a day for them to take sample; also worth noting that previous vet had no problem taking bloods or eye discharge samples.

Disappointed

1
Recently we took both our cats in for check up and vaccination.. The vet advised that the oldest cat had bad teeth which all needed removing at a cost of about £700. We could not believe that the cat, who is 17 years old, would survive such drastic treatment. We asked whether a less invasive treatment could be considered but were told that all teeth needed to go. We then contacted a different vet, recommended to us by a friend. An examination was arranged and we were told that one tooth was broken and this and possibly one other tooth would have to be removed but the rest could be descaled and cleaned. We arranged for this to be done the following day, the operation costing us £191 only, no fee for initial consultation. We are happy we have found a vet who really feels for pets and their wellbeing. We have now transferred to the new vet and asked that our cats' medical history be transferred over. We are shocked and disappointed by the service offered by Ashman-Jones, London Rd.

Great vet practice

I have been with this Vet practice almost since the start.
Whilst Pippa Ashman has moved on, Murray Jones was with the Practice until he recently returned to Australia for family reasons.
The current Vets are terrific- kind, empathic and very down to earth.
Although I am aware the Practice is now owned by a consortium the ethos set out by Pippa and Murray is still in place.
I would not hesitate to recommend them.
