Arts into Crafts

Arts into Crafts specializes in delivering art-based services and support for young people between five and twenty-five years old. We support a wide range of activities such as: performing arts, literature, visual arts, craft, design, digital and media, heritage activities.

Arts Award is carried out under the auspices of England Arts Council and is moderated and accredited by Trinity College London. Arts Award addresses children and young people aged between five and twenty five and can be delivered at five different levels:

- Discover (ages 5-9)

- Explore (ages 7-11)

- Bronze (ages 11-14)

- Silver (ages 14-16)

- Gold (ages 16-25)

Apart from Discover, which is an award, the rest of our levels equate to actual qualifications within The Regulated Qualifications Framework, as follows: Arts Award Explore (Entry 3 Qualification), Arts Award Bronze (Level 1 GCSE 3-1), Arts Award Silver (Level 2 GCSE 9-4), Arts Award Gold (Level 3 A Level granting 16 UCAS points). Thus, Arts Award not only gives young people the opportunity to express creativity, but also allows them to acquire a formal qualification which can give them the edge and make them more employable in the future.

Arts Award is a unique program which places children and young people at its heart with the aim of actively supporting them develop essential skills for life such as : creative and critical thinking, the ability to learn independently and continually, the ability to effectively communicate and engage with the community around them. As a result, an Arts Award impact study carried out by London South Bank University, reported that children and young people gain the confidence and knowledge to learn independently. Children and young people with less cultural capital become more engaged in the learning process and less prone to low attendance. After taking up Arts Award, 3 out of 5 young people report a better understanding of options for a career within creative and cultural industries.
