Our accredited family business is a professional design and build service covering mainly Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

Our projects span private homes to commercial and industrial premises. We provide fully itemised quotes free of charge, and project manage our work to deliver to the highest quality work, on time and budget. We offer a bespoke service with a personal touch.

Our services are very broad, but include: New builds, Oak buildings, Renovations, Carpentry, Extensions, Loft Conversations. Our experienced craftsmen take pride in working on conservation, heritage and listed building projects. This recently includes renovating 18th Century outbuildings and updating facilities at a village church built in the 1840s.

Our team of builders and carpenters are all highly trained, and we also work with long term contractors for additional service requirements.

Built on an old industrial unit site in a village location

In order for the first floor to be constructed the ground floor had to be lowed by a meter with under pinning and drainage being installed.

We had the pleasure in building this link from St Barnabas church to the village hall.

The outside of the building was totally refurbished, with the roof vents being restored and new insulation and tiles. The front windows were lowered.

This was a double story extension to the side and rear of the existing 1930's house in Hitchin.

This extension was to the rear of a property and its design kept the character of the existing building.

This grade 2 listed building used to use this room as a studio but we converted it to a bedroom and en-suite. Glass was fitted in between the beams to stop any noise.

This job was a rear extension and alteration to internal walls, all the new steel beams have been placed above the ceiling line.

This grade 2 barn had 50 ton of soil removed from the floor to allow the under pinning and new ground floor slab to be formed. Lime plaster on laths was placed in between the existing old rafters.

Oak and brick barn built using reclaimed brick and green oak.

This beautiful three bedroom house has built using local stone and lime mortar in a conservation area.

This stone built house has been built out of local stone on the old front drive to the farm house behind. The old drystone wall behind the house used to be the old village boundary and had to stay in place.

The house was built to a high spec with hard wood bespoke windows, under floor heating in the kitchen.

Single story open barn was more used by bats than any one else.

Extension and renovation recommendation for Apex - Letchworth

Apex worked on a major renovation to our house between February to July 2018. It involved an 80 ft double story extension + altering the layout of most of the house and updating plumbing and electrics.

Stuart has an excellent and personable team working for him. He also has a wide network of experienced specialists for roofing/plumbing/plastering and electrics. Our lead builder James was great and ensured we were given notice regarding timelines and also provided helpful advice/support along the way.

The build came in on schedule and on budget. Apex were sensitive to the fact that as a family of 4 we were still living in the house while the work was being done and proactively worked with us to minimise the disruption.

So we're very happy to recommend Apex and indeed we already have friends and family in Letchworth and Harpenden who plan to work with Apex as a result of our experience.

Professional, high quality service and you always feel you are treated as a valued customer

I requested a fully managed complete renovation of my house with one point of contact. This included a complete rewire, structural changes, oak carpentry, a new heating system, and complete house insulation. Basically only the shell of the house remained. Apex gave me a fully itemised estimate and regular updates during the work. the only changes to the quote occurred when I changed my mind and ungraded some work. The team are brilliant and Stuart leads the team to ensure a very professional finish. Having just one person to deal with managing the project was perfect. I love my house now.

Excellent Service

We used Apex to build our two storey rear extension and couldn't be happier. The quality of build is superb with great attention to detail, the project was completed on time and within budget. We worked closely with them throughout the project to thrash out any details, Apex have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on to overcome any unexpected issues as they arise.
