Business overview

Set up in 1977 by business partners, Angus Johnston and Gordon Black, ANGUS GORDON HAIRDRESSING & BEAUTY has become one of Scotland's most prestigious Hair Salons.

With their principle salon at Frederick Street, in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town city centre, they have expanded their business, rolling out their exclusive business model to three further salons: one in Blackhall, one in Perth, and one in Musselburgh. Both Gordon and Angus developed a name for themselves on the Scottish and International stage before combining forces. The creative source of a number of their 'hair trends' in Scotland, Angus and Gordon's work - and that of their Style Team - has often featured in professional and consumer magazines as well as fashion shows. Passionate about the future quality of hairdressing in Scotland, ANGUS GORDON HAIRDRESSING & BEAUTY has invested heavily over the years in training and development of its stylists and have often been the launch platform for many independent careers - both North and South of the Border.

This salon was recommended by a friend when I moved to the area. I would never book with them again and that's before I had a hair on my head cut. I was late for my appointment by 12 minutes (on their clock). Reception said there was a 15 min cut off and I couldn't be taken after that. After explaining that I was new to the area i was told that i would have to book another appointment. I queried this as it was still within the 15 mins cited. The receptionist then became rude and argumentative. She involved the stylist whose attitude was actually worse than hers. I then would have appealed to the manager except he was the manager! The salon was empty bar the client he was finishing with. There was no reason at all for them to behave this way. It was so unexpected, especially over something as minor as being a few minutes late. This is a salon with a pretense of class when it has none. If you prefer to be treated with respect and courtesy I would stay away.
