I’m a native Russian speaker from St Petersburg, where I qualified as a Teacher/Interpreter and Translator. I provide a range of English – Russian Services.

Since graduating with an MA in Philology from St Petersburg State University I’ve built up a wealth of experience providing Russian-English translation, interpretation and tutoring online. My experience amounts to over 25 years.

I’ve lived in the UK for 25 years and currently am based in the West Midlands.

I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (29149) and the National Register of Public Interpreters (13379).

I also worked as a Russian Tutor for the University of Birmingham in 2020-2021 academic year.

Conversational Russian Course/Russian Grammar Course.

I have recently completed the intensive conversational and grammar group courses provided by Akademik. Although I have previously taken one-on-one lessons, these group courses gave me the opportunity to practice conversational Russian with other students at a similar level to myself. It provided me with a lot of confidence, and I would be very happy to undertake similar group courses in the future!

Outstanding teaching!

Mrs Maria is one of the best teachers who has ever taught me. I studied with her under the A - levels program, and Maria found an individual teaching approach based on my progress. She managed to diversify the lessons in every possible way, got in touch outside the lessons if necessary, was very patient, understanding and kind to me, had an excellent knowledge of the subject and the content of the exam, which is important to me, I think, like many students. I loved her lessons and for the first time someone’s teaching and lessons brought me such pleasure. I wrote my Summer 2023 exam with confidence and no difficulties - thanks to Maria’s lessons. I highly recommend Maria as a tutor for any Russian level!

Flexible and Thorough Russian Tutor

Flexible and thorough tutor! I asked to be "thrown into the deep end" since I learn best that way, and Maria was able to curate a program that was challenging but thorough. I really enjoy our productive lessons and hope to continue on a more consistent schedule.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience of learning Russian with an experienced and patient tutor.

As a student, I’ve found Maria very helpful over the course she’s been teaching me, as I slowly understand Russian at my own pace, which has been beneficial as I have not felt rushed or stressed during my lessons. Maria is always there to help when I’m struggling with words that I find difficult to pronounce or understand the meaning of. Maria’s teaching method includes having fun, such as tongue twisters, because before when learning a language, I often used to struggle with pronunciation and found it difficult. I feel like I have made a lot of progress and look forward to see my progress in the next year.
