Aire Bar

This little bar is fantastic. You could easily stroll right past it mistaking it for an office or similar (it is located in a predominantly 'officey' part of Leeds). If do manage to spot it however and make your way down the little pebble effect stairs you are greeted by a cosy 'pub-feeling' bar with a low ceiling and bare brick walls. As a smoker, it's the kind of place where your mates don't mind (and will probably come too) if you want to go stand out and look over the river on the balcony accessible by two doors from inside. They have Hoegarden on tap and anytime of day this is a really friendly place to go.

Really nice bar, quite small, amazing in summer sitting by the river. Sells absolutely delicious food. Gets really busy around finishing work time which is why I have given it four stars not five because you can find yourself with nowhere to sit. However this is the case with most nice bars in the proximity of offices in this area. This is really close to some of the nicer (read posher) restaurants / bars there for the city dwellers e.g. Oracle but it is also close enough to Call Lane to not be too far off the main drinking area in Leeds.

Aire bar is a little out of the way of the main path but that's probably one of the things that contributes to it being so good! Go behind the corn exchange and turn left, walk about a hundred yards and you're there, it's quite easy to miss because you go through the door and down some steps before you come to the bar itself. It is cosy in winter with candles lit and big comfy sofas and brilliant in summer with an outside area overlooking the river Aire. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. Fat chips are an absolute must! There is also a pool table and a more grown up dining area if you dont want to sit on the sofas to eat. A hidden gem.
