Aikido Shurenkan

Aikido Shurenkan is a traditional Japanese martial arts dojo teaching Yoshinkan Aikido in the heart of Durham city. It is an internationally recognised Dojo under the auspices of Joe Thambu Shuseki Shihan the Aikido Shudokan international. We place an onus on practicality and efficiency, as well as seeking to cultivate in our students the true spirit of Budo (the martial way), where difficulty and adversity are overcome by hard work and strong spirit. Shurenkan students are fortunate to have access to some of the top Yoshinkan aikido instructors in the world, and Shurenkan students regularly have the opportunity to attend seminars both in the UK and abroad should they wish. Joining the club means becoming a part of a family, and you will learn skills and make friends for life.
