Aidan McEvoy Fine Furniture

I recently attended the fundamentals weekend at Aidan McEvoy Fine Furniture. I have zero experience with creating anything out of wood and so entered the workshop with a certain amount of trepidation. Upon arrival I met with Aidan and Jarrad and soon realised that all was well in the world. Jarrad ran the course over the 2 days and his knowledge and passion for his craft was inspiring. I never felt rushed or pressured, only encouraged and supported to create something to my own ability with the guidance of a master craftsman. Just don't mention Ikea!

I recently completed the 'Fundamentals Part 1' course with Aidan as the instructor. It's a 2 day course and has really given me new confidence to try new projects. Aidan is a true master of his craft and his portfolio speaks for itself. You'll learn so much under his tutelage. The atmosphere is relaxed but well structured and you'll learn so much in such a short space of time and have a giggle too. You leave the course with an increased knowledge in so many areas. I cant recommend this course enough for anyone wishing to get involved with work.

i've now done both parts of the fundamentals course. Aidan focuses on basic skills development, the instruction is clear and Aidan is very patient. Groups sizes are small with no more than 6 on the course meaning there's plenty of 121 tuition. I would fully recommend to anyone interested in furniture making or woodworking in general

This is an outstanding course which takes 2 days - I did it over a weekend. Aidan is a great instructor who gives clear instructions and lots of additional advice. There is plenty of room in the workshop and the limited number of students means you get the time you need. All tools and materials are provided. This is a great course if you want to start, or restart, some woodworking.

This is the second course I have attended at Aidan's workshop. Aidan is a very good teacher, he demonstrates whilst explaining, and then observes each student working. I had some pointers for my sawing technique and then my chiseling technique to clean out the waste. The results achieved when employing his advice took my dovetails to a different level, one where I'm proud to share photos of my work! I still have some refinements but I have the confidence to cut very good dovetails.
Once the techniques have been understood and employed, a whole range of woodwork opens up with new found confidence.
