Disappointing customer service

1
I have been a regular customer to my local age uk charity shop..it has been one of my favourite for shopping as well as for donatios..The shop is really tidy and quality clothes.Been there today as well,,bought really nice lady hat and feather socks.. but wasn't impress with the lady on the till as had 5-6 yr old kid playing on the till as well as hanging around of kids...Not even saying thank you nor smile ..very disappointing service ..seems more baby sitting rather than providing customer service .

Doesn't look, feel or smell like a typical charity shop!

We are regular visitors to our local Age UK shop, in Totnes. It's brighter, better laid out and nicer than just about any other charity shop we have been in. And it doesn't have that funny smell that other charity shops always seem to have! The staff are always friendly, polite and professional.

Encouraged by having seen students of similar ages working there, one of our teenagers volunteered last year and had a really positive experience. I would recommend it to anyone considering doing so.

very unprofessional manager

I visited the shop to help support my local organization and was disgusted to see the way the manageress treated her volunteers as if they were dirt pushing the staff around and finding anything to complain at the staff for. I had heard of the poor managerial skills off of other people but this was terrible. I would like to say a big thank you to the ladies and gentlemen who work extremely hard for the organisation and don't get paid a penny for their good service to the community.

I'd take this one with a pinch of salt. One of my teenagers volunteered in Age UK, Totnes and had a very positive experience. I was surprised to discover that they have a lot of teenage volunteers, which I felt was unusual for a charity shop. It seems unlikely this would continue if mistreatment of staff was going on. The above 'review' reads as though motivated by a personal grudge.

@mpaterson1957 - Very sad to read your review, as the manager of the shop. I've had many young volunteers from Italy in my shop including my son and four of his school friends who also volunteered in my shop for 6 weeks last summer. My shop also has a very good and professional relationship with the local language school, who has been sending students to us since last year. I've just had a young man complete his Duke of Endograft award last Saturday from a local school. So, I welcome you to volunteer at the shop and see how the shop really is run and how the volunteers are treated. Totnes Manager
