A World of Furniture was started by husband and wife Mark and Lucy Hotson 25 years ago from it's original store just off the Southampton Road in Salisbury. That store is now the largest independent furniture store in the area with a huge choice of furniture , sofas , beds , mattresses , lighting , rugs and a whole array of homewares and accessories.

The Blandford store is also one of Dorset's largest furniture emporiums ,but also has the benefit of a huge warehouse. This enables fast delivery and an easy takeaway service !

The showrooms and furniture on show have changed somewhat over the last two years and are a real paradise for those looking for furnishings ideas and inspiration.

The furniture choice is amazing from beds to tables to sofas and beyond but the choice of ' look' is just as awe inspiring. Oak , Pine , Painted , Vintage , Industrial , Shabby chic , Romantic are all on offer.

Me and my Dad went to A World of Furniture today. We were both extremely impressed with this place. The furniture and sofas are absolutely lovely! There is a great range of items, lots of quirky sofas and furniture. I highly recommend a visit and me and my family will be visiting again! 🙂

Great staff, service and furniture.

First class service. Very respectful and helpful staff. I bought a corner sofa, I wanted the one on display, John made a few phone calls and managed to sell me the one on display. Mark made a few phone calls and made sure I had it deliver when I wanted. They were very careful bringing the sofa in. Sofa was british made, great quality, very comfortable.
I truly recommend and would buy again. My friend now wants a new sofa too.

What’s happened?

Popped in to what we remembered as a lovely furniture store with my daughter to find a dining room set in Feb. I’m not sure what has happened in the last six months-year but the selection of furniture has gone extremely downhill. The clutter and randomness of furniture and accessory items are overwhelming and there is no flow to any of the shop from the last few times we have been. We are regular shoppers here and have spent thousands kitting out our house over the years. We felt pressured for the first time ever...constantly ‘hunted’ by two members of staff, one of which we found in particular to be worse, who we have seen before I won’t put his name on here. The other was abrupt and rude. The times we have been previous we were greeted and welcomed into a warm friendly environment - this seemed frosty and uncomfortable. We can’t put our finger on what has changed, it is certainly is not good and we will not be returning and will not be recommending to anymore family or friends.

Excellent service

We have bought from world of furniture twice this year and each time we had great customer service, Delivery was very quick and efficient, delivery drivers were lovely and very helpful no mess and sofas put exactly where I wanted them. I would definitely recommend to other people.

Corner sofa

We bought a corner sofa from this company in November, and it arrived in November . 2 weeks after we noticed the cushions had lost there shape, we notified World of furniture, but after several attempts of no contact from them I had to threaten them with legal action, they then responded. They offered to refill the sofa then later told us they wanted it back and would reimburse us, but would have to pick the sofa up straight away. We asked them if there was anything else they could do as it was nearing to Christmas. In response they said no as they would need to re-sell it in there show room. We have been, over several days, told many different stories about the way managment can deal with this problem. My problem with this company is there lack of understanding, and the way they have dealt with this bad quality product so close to Christmas, as we are now without a sofa over Christmas.
