I visited 1st Choice after asking a nearby garage for a recommendation for towbar electrics. As I had to leave my car nearby overnight anyway, I asked on the off-chance they could look at the car that day, as the electrics had not worked properly since I had owned the car.

I had a detachable tow bar fitted July 2023. The service was excellent and very professional. I used the tow bar 3 times and then had a long period where the Ball was just in the boot. I came to refit the ball today and struggled as I had forgotten the process etc. having tried a few times I rang the depot who agreed to meet me locally to assist. We met within the hour and it was, as expected, me being an idiot and not going about the task correctly. They fitted the ball and re-explained the process to me in a very polite and helpful way. The socket on my towbar had stopped supplying power to my caravan fridge. I was given an appointment time by phone. They finished the previous customer's job and got my car in only 5 min after that time. Diagnosis with superb equipment took 2 min. Removing parts of boot lining, repairing fault and putting back lining took less than 20 min. Lining refitted perfectly, couldn't see it had been disturbed. I stood and watched and the technician explained what he was doing. Very helpful and reassuring.
The towbar and sockets had been fitted 14 years ago by the same firm and this was the first time they had gone wrong. They were as good then, that's why I went back to them. If it needs doing again in another 14 years I'll be 96 so I probably won't be able to take it back, even if the car is still usable.
