1896 Gallery

Our family business begun with the buying of the old village hall with friends Steve & Imogen in 2011. The next 3 years the tricky process of planning and conversion. Taking the building from dereliction to a loved building again was never going to be easy, but by november 2014 the doors swung open for business.

1896 was the year the building was created as a meeting place for local folk.

We felt it was only right to incorporate this date in our business name.

Owners Mairi ( Glass & Jewelery)& James ( Landscape Photography) both have arty blood in their veins.

We wanted a place to share our love of the landscape from both established artists and up and coming Scottish talent. This along with landscape photography of highland Scotland.

We also wanted a place for people to relax and soak up the atmosphere. A small coffee shop was also part of the business to incorporate the baking skills of Rhiain ( Daughter ) and later Jared ( son ).

Now 4 successful years on we take a breath ( Nov 2018 ) while we reconfigure our Gallery and our future.

changes with the family mean we are now operating as a Gallery. The coffee shop consigned to history. Any business has to grow and adapt to be successful. We look forward to the next chapter as we focus on the art world.
