Frances and Robert have been working as a team to provide extremely skilled and careful design and construction services to clients in the Home Counties- for 15 years.

Frances has a B.A. First Class Honours Degree in Design, and Robert has much experience in the industry through hard graft.

We aim to create beautiful and sustainable garden spaces which offer you a place to relax, unwind, garden, or even work.

Planting goes alongside paving or decking, grass or a swimming pool, and our skill is help you choose materials and styles which compliment your property and the surrounding area, whether it is a townhouse or rolling fields.

Garden Design is about painting a 3D picture and really the picture is as much about you as it is about the designer. Careful plans will save wasted time and effort and of course- money so we like to think of your garden as an investment, as well as somethng to enjoy.

Low pretty walls make beautiful atmospheres in gardens of all sizes- creating an edge to a patio. Built in 2011 this Surrey garden was built by 1 to One Garden Design for private clients who wanted a peaceful space to dine and have parties. Planting is blue and red and late summer flowering too.
This project was perfect as the client wanted lots of planting an dI love to use lavish wide orders to help keep the wind out and create separate spaces and divided areas. This tiny raided garden in central Guildford needed to be a sanctuary for a family with busy lives. It uses Box, Salvia and Alliums to good effect. The garden was derelict on arrival and the garden plan was formal but very pretty with Olice trees on one side and an Italianate feel.

Frances Riley and her team were a delight to work with, providing knowledgeable, professional help in redesigning a tricky garden on a chalky slope with woods behind. We are delighted with the finished garden, which includes a wildlife area with a newly built pergola, a walled allotment designed and built by Frances’ team, sculpting of the lawn to provide attractive borders which are filled with drought tolerant plants, which work harmoniously together.

Frances provided a plan of the garden, as well as a planting plan, before worked commenced. The team were on site daily for about 3 weeks. They worked methodically and tidily.

I would highly recommend 1toOne Garden Design.

Great job, great team

Fran and Rob are great team. From consultation and discussing designs to ground works and planting the project was actually enjoyable to be a part of. Our 'garden' was a mess after major building work and now we have a very usable space that is both practical and attractive to look at.
Rob is a stickler for detail and Fran's plant choices spot on. Very happy to recommend ...and we have!
