Could New York be the wedding destination for you?
But where are the best places to hold your ceremony? According to Caxton FX and wedding consultant Lisa Burton, there are a number of options to choose from.
They recommend classic wedding holiday and honeymoon destinations like the Caribbean, Mauritius and the Bahamas, as well as others that might not immediately spring to mind when thinking of places to tie the knot in.
For example, Sri Lanka could be the perfect location for those who love spectacular natural scenery and want a ceremony with a difference – you can have a traditional Buddhist Poruwa or a civil ceremony complete with drummers, dancers, and traditional singers.
Alternatively, New York might be ideal for those wanting a classy city wedding, while Turkey might be attractive for those who want a spot of culture and history to take in on their honeymoon.
"Whether your dream wedding is a romantic stroll along a quiet, sandy beach at sunset or a gathering of family and friends in a unique mountain village, Turkey can deliver and more," Ms Burton says.
The Observer also has some other suggestions, like Sicily, Sydney, Arizona and Havana.
