A new online tool from Saffron Building Society can help couples budget for their wedding day

The perfect dress, the right food, the freshest flowers, and the all important magical venue can all start to add up for those looking to tie the knot. In fact it might feel like you’ll have to re-mortgage your house to afford it all or at the very least spend the rest of your life paying the credit card debts off…. But  help is at hand to afford the big day of your dreams.
Saffron Building Society has teamed up with Wedding magazine to launch an online tool to help couples budget for the all important event.
An average wedding now costs some £18,000, so to avoid a massive overspend couples can use the new tool to work out how much they want to spend on their big day and then translate this budget into a savings plan.
People using the tool have the opportunity of opening a savings account with Saffron, which pays interest of 2.25%, and the account’s balance will be recorded on the budgeting tool so that couples can see how much money they have and how much they need to set aside each month to pay for their big day.
John Eastgate, sales and marketing director at Saffron Building Society, said: “It’s our hope that our new online wedding tool will put those planning a wedding in control of their finances and get married life off to a happy, debt-free start.”
