Supermarkets
- Every food supermarket chain has a slightly different focus—some supermarkets have a larger range of organic food; some supermarkets focus on high-quality, convenient groceries for the cash-rich, time-poor market; and other supermarkets are aimed at families who value low prices for food and drink and have more time for home cooking.
- If you are new to your local area, try out all your local food supermarkets and compare the prices and quality of the groceries that you buy.
- Remember to try your traditional grocery store and other local food suppliers. You may find that some food is fresher or cheaper from an independent grocery store or local food supplier, and you'll be supporting your local businesses.
- There are now many new town centre supermarkets, which can save you a trip to a larger out-of-town supermarket, but tend to be smaller and focus on convenience food.
- Compare supermarkets' monthly or seasonal offers, especially for expensive grocery items—stocking up when there's a special offer can save you money.
