Central heating services (domestic)
You may wish to consider the following advice when choosing your central heating supplier:- If installing gas central heating always use a Corgi registered installer (ask for their registered number). Find gas installers on Yell.com.
- Be clear about what work you want carried out. Put down in writing the exact details of what you want done and how much you are willing to spend.
- Choose a central heating supplier that specialises in the type and size of work you want carried out and check they have insurance.
- Get several quotes detailing specifically what work needs to be done and the price you will have to pay. Remember, a quote is not a firm price, so ask your supplier to keep you informed of any changes.
- Avoid paying cash upfront, ask for a fully itemised receipt and ask when the full payment will be due.
- Ask for previous references and follow them up.
- Be wary of traders who call unexpectedly and offer their services—check them out.
Visit our Trade associations & professional bodies section for helpful information on verifying a supplier's membership status of one of these organisations, as well as the contact details of those organisations that appear more frequently within Yell.com.
