I've been taking my cat here since she was 8 weeks old and never had a problem until the location of the vets changed. She has just had what should have been a small and easy procedure to have a fatty lump removed with minimal distress to her. We were told that the incision would be very small and that it could be sealed up with stitches that would dissolve over a couple of weeks. We were never told of any other possibilities that could happen during the operation. We were also advised to have my cat on a drip through the operation so she would recover better from the anaesthetic. This actually turned out to be a nightmare. My cat as returned to me after her operation with many more stitches than anticipated and a drip to drain excess fluid. I will stress again here that WE WERE NEVER INFORMED OF THIS BEING A POSSIBILITY. Furthermore, she was clearly discharged far to early as she was still extremely unstable from the anaesthetic. She fell straight onto her wound and began bleeding from the drain so we were worried that she had harmed herself. On taking her back to the vets, we found there were many things that the nurses should have informed us about that were never mentioned. I am now beginning to wonder whether the operation was necessary at all. What is a lovely, loyal cat to us, is just a money making cat to them. The aftercare was non-existent and were told she was discharged early for being 'overly aggressive' to the nurses as though it was my cats fault. Overall, I wish I had have left well alone and when a vet advises you on having a procedure done to your pet, ask yourself this question: 'is it beneficial to your pet, or is the vet just trying to make money out of you to pay for their new premises?Report this
the best small animal vets I've used

I used to go to Willdbore's when they were at newcastle avenue. The whole team is clearly passionate about animals and genuinely likes them. The atmsophere is very friendly and pleasant, and you never feel rushed. They are very helpful and will give advice on any topic without sounding patronising like other vets can. I had 5 cats neutered there and the cuts and stitches on the females were so small and neat I couldn't even see them. All the cats were back to normal within hours and they had no pain at all-a vast contrast to when I had cats neutered at another surgery. Going to the vets is always a worrying thing, but this surgery makes you feel at ease, is patient and gentle with the animals, and very prompt at diagnosing. They try to make it as pleasant as possible for all involved, and the fees are reasonable.Report this
