Varsity are a small group of bars popular with students, serving a variety of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails as well as a selection of English dishes. The decor is modern yet relaxing with several large tables to sit around and eat or drink.

Varsity is somewhere I generally try to avoid. Going back a year or two, the bouncers there were very aggressive and once through me out just as I purchased a pint simply because some drunk girl didn't like the look of me... Good service. I went in last week and was ripped off when told I could purchase a Varsity drinks card which reduces the prices of the drinks. I asked if I could pay for that before ordering my drinks and he said (the barman) it was easier if he put it all through together. So I agreed and he didn't take the discount off my drinks, then when confronted about it he said I can use it on my next round... unfair??? Overall it gets too busy and the drinks are overpriced! Service sucks!Report this

The Varsity is somewhere which i have been to quite a few times now, which, for me, is unusual because i don't drink that much. Still, i like the feeling of the place and it keeps me coming back with friends. This is a place for younger people. Of course, anyone's welcome but still, i've only ever seen young people in here myself. Drinks could be cheaper which lowers my rating to three stars but that's a common complaint for most drinking places these days whether that be bars, clubs or pubs. It can be both a relaxing place and a vibrant place but that depends on when you actually go. The later, the more livelier it gets.Report this
