Mad Skills in the Kitchen

Last night my boyfriend thought he'd be spontaneous and romantic and treat me to dinner, and strada was the perfect setting for a lovely evening. The wine was excellent, the food was delightful, and the service impeccable. We both did not expect such a high quality, delectable culinary experience for the price we paid. Over the moon with Strada, Gunwarf Quays, Portsmouth. Thank you for a great evening and we look forward to dining with you again!!Report this
dinner for 10

having eaten at Strada several times - okay food ~I was bitterly disappointed at my last experience. A large family evening was turned into a cold and tedious time. Although we had booked our order was not taken till after at least four other parties who arrived after us. We eventually had plates of olives plonked on the table which we thought were just drink accompaniments and ate them. then arrived some king of speciality bread which we said was not our order so it went away. It then dawned on us perhaps the olives were not ours either. Then came our starters, four lots of gambas bunged on the table but no other starters. confused waitresses returned and grabbed the plates from in front of us and took them to another table who not surprisingly started to complain at being given plates that had been sitting in front of someone else for minutes! our starters came and were okay. However, the main courses did not arrive for nearly an hour. We made gentle enquiries and were told there is a problem it wont be long. All other table round us were served and parties even left - eventually ours arrived. Okay not good. two steak orders with crispy roasted potatoes were cold!!!! cold steak and raw potatoes. they saw we were not happy but werent too keen to hear the problem asked us if they could take them away and heat them up. At the end of the meal they made a generous gesture and took £20 off the meal.We then wanted to use some vouchers and they said we couldnt because they had already taken off £20.Seeing our faces they managed to arrange the bill minus the £20 and using our vouchers. They then added an £18 service charge. you are kidding. Now I'm not saying the staff were unpleasant just indifferent and I'm sorry you dont do that and expect to add for service. Needless to say we didnt pay the service but left feeling dampened. shame.Report this

I took advantage of an offer an dtook my whole family to Strada for a meal. There were 4 of us and none of us enjoyed the experience. The food had clearly been in a freezer, warmed up and then thrown on to a plate. No presentation and no taste or flavour. The staff were fine. The atmosphere was poor too.Report this

Strada really is a little find. Its clean the staff are friendly and the food is fresh and tastes delicious. I was left slightly confused though! Yes the atmosphere is pleasant and warm I can't make up my mind whether it felt like I was in a posh resturant or a private school canteen. On another note the pizzas are great, I went there recently looking for a Calzone but there wasn't one on the menu. In all fairness none of the italian resturants had Calzone on the menu. All in all would recommend this place, its really is a lovely place and with great coffee.Report this

The Strada restaurant is at gun wahrf quays and it has a good setting. It is modern and clean and quite popular with locals and visitors alike. The menu has itallian influences and we have found that the dishes on offer are nice. The king prawns in garlic are a favorite as is the sea food linguine. The pizzas are great too. They serve some fresh tasting italian wines and the usual soft drinks are available. I think the lunch menu starts at around £7.50 which is very good. then after lunch you can head on down to the shops.Report this
Italian out of the usual

I love this place! It is a really nice setting of Gunwharf Quays. iT is an italian restaurant but slightly posher than the usual. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. The menu is really refreshing - a different twist on the usual italian dishes with some unusual pasta types and delicious sauces. There are also meat dishes and the most enormous pizzas. The dishes are made with really fresh ingredients. The deserts are divine - the best panna cotte i have had! The service is always superb and they even let you order meals to collect! it's well worht a meal out.Report this

I love strada, ihave been to a few other restaurants in this chain, but never actually been to the one in my home town. Until now that is! Although the service isn't perfect, and this is the same across the entire chain, it is still good. My main issue is that its just too slow. Even more so when you are in a larger group. It certainly isn't a place to go if you just have an hour! However when the food arrives, you soon forget this. (although it doesn't always come out at the same time!). The pizza's are delicious, such a varied range of toppings, and they are so thin and crisp - none of the that stodgey stuff like pizza hut!Report this

Gunwharf is great for a night out and this lovely Italian restaurant overlooks the water and as evening draws in has a lively but intimate atmosphere. We had an excellent meal, I particularly enjoyed the basil, tomato and buffalo mozzerella salad, gorgeous!! We were a large party and unfortunately the staff serving our table seemed to struggle a bit and we ended up with a somewhat confused order and some missing desserts but all was sorted out eventually. The menu is varied and attractively presented. Tiramisu is just lush! The venue itself modern in design, lots of wood and clean lines, the toilets were good, something I'm particularly fussy about!!Report this
Meals at Strada

This is a great italian restaurant in Gunwharf Quays which is located along the canalside. There is lots of outside seating which makes a really pleasant lunch or evening meal. There is a range of pasta - some more unusual dishes than standard italian restaurants, such as a gorgeous riagattoni. There are also many pizzas including buffula mozzerella and tomato. The pizzas are enormous and big enough to share. The deserts are delicious - try the pannecotte. The staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable.
