Are You Sitting Comfortably?

The Odeon in Gateshead's MetroCentre is quite a large cinema complex, surrounded by places to eat and drink. There's a Wetherspoons upstairs for a pre or post-film drink and plenty of places nearby to grab a bite to eat, including Chiquitos, Nandos and Pizza Hut. With the Odeon being located in an indoor shopping mall, it's a very convenient location to get to and also to explore when the weather isn't too good. The Odeon consists of a large lobby area, with the obligatory Ben & Jerry's, Pick n Mix and Odeon food counters. There are several screens - 10 I think? - which are always showing the latest movies. The new addition of premier seats is a pricey idea, but great if you're going to see a preview for free and manage to nab one of these seats by being the first into the theatre! All in all, not a bad cinema experience, so sit back and enjoy the entertainment.Report this

The cinema is in a very convenient place if also wanting to do some shopping or get something to eat either before or after, As with most cinemas there is a que for tickets at peak times. The cinema offers all the usual food snacks and drinks, there is a pizza hut right next door and a Mc Donalds over the way there is also a number of other restaurants to eat at in the metro centre. The cinema itself has 11 screens, i have always found the staff to be pleasant. If you are driving make sure you leave some extra time as during the day on weekends the car parks are very full, there is also train and busses to the metro centre.Report this
Odeon Gateshead Metrocentre

Formally an AMC, then UCI now an Odeon, this was the first multiplex in the NE area. Featuring 11 screens (largest Screen 11 - nearly 500 seats), this was back in late 80s early 90s -the best way to see a wide range of films in North East. Standards of projection and sound are very high. Snacks include Ben & Jerrys as well normal cinema fare. Seating isnt the best (as built in days before stadium style seating), but as long as you dont have tallest person in front of you, you get a pretty unrestricted view. Due to close and reopen in a new multiplex in another area of Mall late next yearReport this
