Having met these people at a local food fayre, they advertised their own produce and could cater for outside events and particularly Hog Roasts and their Trentside Saddlebacks, I booked with Mark Wealthall the owner 6 months prior to the event for them to carry out the catering during the day for a Charity Fun Day for approx 500 people and a Hog Roast in the evening for 200. I had spoken to Mark on number of occasions to confirm various details and liaised with him via e-mail. I had also advertised the tickets for the evening hog roast saying the hog roast was being supplied by the Wetherall’s. Exactly two weeks prior to the event I received a call from Colin at The Spitting Pig Company saying Mark Wealthall of Oak Tree Farm had passed my details onto him as Oak Tree Farm was unable to do the event. I telephoned Oak Tree Farm and spoke to the Butchery department and asked to speak to Mark Wealthall, they told me Mr. & Mrs. Wealthall was not available as they were at a food fayre at Newark Showground, I explained about the Charity Day and The Hog Roast only to be told that he knew they would not be doing it as they had booked a last minute holiday and was going away for 10 days the following week. To date The Wealthall’s I have not even had a courtesy call and apologise for not being able to carry out my event nor that they had passed my details onto another company. I can only advise do not book an event with them and I am pleased I did not pay upfront; and I hope they have a nice holiday!Report this

I recently passed through Sutton on my wife's birthday and thinking about what to cook her for dinner stopped at The Butchers Shop. First of all, The butcher was incredibly friendly and informative and not only did he advise me on what type of meat will create the birthday wow factor, but what accompaniment, and how to cook it. Being a "bloke" this was vitally important. I decided on a rack of Ryland lamb which is grown on their own farm and can honestly say this is the best lamb I have ever tasted! It is so delicate and took the minimal of cooking. Absolutely stunning! Linda, one of the girls who works there, suggested I try their sausages as they are apparently famous of their sausages made from their own Saddleback pork, and I can honestly understand why. OMG! I bought the Lincolnshire and the Smoked Bacon and Black Pudding. My wife is not a black pudding fan at all so I didn't mention this ingredient to her but by far these were the best sausages we have ever tasted. The Lincolnshire which we were told is from a 100 year old recipe were also amazing. We have of course been back! For anyone wanting the perfect pork pie, try one from here. The pastry is amazing and the saddleback pork filling is devine. The only problem is that the location is out of my way but they have told me that they will be doing online products very soon. Not soon enough for me and my wife I can tell you!Report this
