Par Excellence Plumber

You cannot get a better plumber than Martin! He's extremely competitive, honest, friendly, very punctual, considerate, respectable, realistic, humble and polite. He is an example to all plumbers/handymen! I called him on Saturday late night and he gave much advice on my boiler issue. On Sunday he came exactly at 1:30pm and spent over 2 hours trying to diagnose the issue which also involved him going out to get a specific part. In the end the issue turned out to be a electrical fault with the valve. Despite being a plumber he worked hard to resolve the issue. Martin did not charge a single penny and even mentioned that I can always get someone else to do the work now that he has found the fault. As agreed he came again on Tuesday at the exact time for the repair and replaced the faulty valve while at the same time offering advice and guidance on various matters and cost savings. His prices were so competitive that I actually gave a tip! Now that is probably very rare your thinking! Well Martin is a profound person who you will find no problem trusting. Even friends in the plumbing business will find him competetive both in labour and service. I would not recommend anyone else than him. I will be no doubt using his services going forward. Misleading Claims on Advert

I called Martins plumbers out to sort out the cistern of my downstairs toilet as a part of the valve contraption had broken off and the water was gushing without filling up the cistern. I specifically called because the ad on Yell.com says "no call out charge". When the plumber came all he did was shut out the water from the pipe leading to the cistern in less than a minute. He said he had never seen that kind of valve before, so did not have the part and would have to see if he can order it otherwise we would need to change the whole toilet. Instantly alarm bells went off. He did not try to establish why the cistern wasn't filling up or if there was anything else wrong with the system. Inspite of what the ad said he charged £40 for coming out. Although I felt it was directly in contrast to what was on the website and protested it, he claimed that I might decide to go with someone else so he needed to be paid for coming out of "the comfort of his house". Despite my reservations I paid him and we agreed he will call the next day to confirm the cost of the part if he can get it, and how much it will cost to fit it. The next day he calls and gets to speak to my husband. He said it will cost us £60 pounds to fix it. When my husband queried why that much since he had already charged for call out, he said the parts cost £15 and an additional £45 for his labour (this is after he'd received £40 even though his ad said no call out charge). My husband passed the phone on to me and I started to protest the charge, he got defensive and said he wouldn't come to fix it anymore, so we should go and get another plumber. Martins Plumbers appears to be just another plumber trying to unnecessarily milk a minor job unfairly.Report this
