Built in the early 19th century, still has original features throughout
Little Hilton Farm was built some time between 1890 and 1910 by Johns grand-father, who was working at that time for Colonel Harries, owner of the nearby Hilton Estate. The farm was part of a large estate as were so many farms in the area.
John's father, Wynford Davies was born in this farmhouse, the 9th child of 14 children in all, and John was also born here. So you see its been part of the Davies family for some 115 years.
The farmhouse was originally built of red brick with a Caernarvon slate roof, and whilst we were renovating it in 2004, we were intrigued to find different blends and colours of horse-hair mixed into the mortar. The character of Little Hilton remains throughout the house, with the original beams of Pembrokeshire oak, and pine complimenting the authentic quarry-stone floors. The double bedrooms retain the original fireplaces as well as many unusual features.
