Good atmosphere , friendly staff, nice food

I have been going to La Porchetta for years and we keep going back because of the atmosphere. Fridays and Saturday evenings are the best (it is dead otherwise). I think the food might actually be better at pappagione (though the clinetelle at pappagiones everytime we go seem to be either skanky, weird, or both!), but we always feel welcome, the clientle are fun and the staff friendlier. I am suprised by the other review because we have never had staff eb rude to us. The pasta is not as good as it used to be (in arrabiata sometimes dried chillis or fresh, no consistency) but the food is ALWAYS tasty, especially the pizzas. I like the mix of couples, young groups of friends and family's that come here.Report this

If you want bad food and terrible service then go here. The place is a shocker and ruined our evening - we had staff ignoring us and when we complained - were rude in return and commented about us to other tables. Our meals were undercooked (the risotto) bland (the pasta) and didnt turn up (the pizza). Oh and then we got slugged with a service charge... highly recommend going elsewhere!Report this
Not too bad for a pizza
05/12/2007 by Sami
I am admittedly obsessed with pizza - if I could only ever have a few ingredients in my life for the remainder of my time here, I would choose flour, cheese, and tomatoes. And since I no longer live close to what I consider to be the very best pizza restaurant in this world (Fantozzi in Southgate), I have to make do with what's local. So La Porchetta it is. Great sauce - the basil really comes through, very fresh toppings, extremely large portions - it's rather good. It's quite good. But it's not Fantozzi, nor will it ever be. But you won't go wrong with this chain - you will leave full and happy. And smiling at the sometimes surly, sometimes cheerful Italian students that make up the staff - they are very cute, even on a bad day. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for the accents...Report this
