Jimmy Chung's experience.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon. Half of the restaurant was empty while we were seated into the cramped other half. Waited almost 20 minutes to catch a waiters attention to order first drink. Tables were far too close together which was rather uncomfortable as it was very difficult to get up and down without bumping into chairs etc. Desserts were a disappointment as ice cream machine was broken and the gateux failed to make an appearance while we were there. Don't think we'll be going back. Food very greasy, overcooked and too salty. A very uncomfortable experience overall.Report this

It is, in its own way, the eternal question – (or at least it would be if the eternal question was based entirely on the theme of buffet-style Chinese restaurants located in the City of Dundee): should we go to Jimmy Chung’s or The City Harbour? My Scottish relatives would opt for the latter mainly because The City Harbour has abundant car-parking spaces available right next to it. My other relatives, the ones of Chinese descent, go for Jimmy Chung’s every time, because although you can’t easily park right outside, or even particularly near it, the food generally tends to be quite a lot better. These days it’s probably racist in some way to say so, but if you’re in Britain and you see a Chinese restaurant in which Chinese people are happily paying to eat, odds are you’re onto a good thing. Jimmy Chung’s could well be such a restaurant. There is lots of food as it’s an all-you-can-eat, and it’s also pretty darn good. Personally I still hanker for the tasty deep-fried chunks intended for being lemon-sauce chicken – sublime, and something I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. So, it has a respectable selection of Chinese-style starters and mains, and a dessert section catering for British tastes – there's cheesecake and gateaux, as well as the fruit, agar-jelly and sesame-coated deep-fried things that you get in Chinese restaurants usually. The restaurant is quite spacious and seems well-run. And the aquaria, as you enter, are particularly impressive. What more could you want, really?Report this
Great Food Reasonably Priced

Jimmy Chungs is a great all you can eat buffet located in the centre of Dundee. Its reasonably priced at about £8.95 for an evening and the choice is reasonable. The food is well cooked and there is always plenty no matter what time you go in at. Also students get an extra 10% off with a metric card. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick. The building is spacious and is well furnished and is a pleasure to eat in. I see myself eating here regularly throughout the rest of my uni days and probably beyond too!Report this
meet the mates

This is a great place to meet your mates for a meal before you hit the pubs and clubs, eat here and still have money to party. It's an all you can eat so if your mates are a bit like Homer Simpson and are never full take them here, It is also a good place to take the kids and introduce them to Chinese food for the first time, did it with my little gilr and now she loves the food. You get to choose alittle of everything and try it out. The staff are friendly and do a great job in keeping the tables clear, sometimes so good you got to go get your food in shifts or you might come back and find your drinks gone. It is a tidy, well lit, and always plenty of room.Report this
Good prices. Good food.

If your on a tight budget, or just feel like a cheap lunch or dinner but don't want to compromise on the quality of food then this place is definitely worth visiting! Prices for a wide selection buffet is less than a fiver at lunch time. Their selection is varied. I can be quite a fussy eater and in general, am not the most enthusiastic about chinese food, however, i still found plenty to fill my plate with despite this! Staff are on the whole friendly, although standards begin to fall when the restaurant becomes busy. This is clearly seen when your waiting for your drinks at the table for around 10 minutes. However, this is the only minor negitive point. For the price and range of dishes available at the buffet, this place is well worth £5 !Report this
