Dear Potential Boiler Desperado, Having suffered a failing boiler for the last 12 months and after numerous call-outs by British Gas, we finally decided to put the old boiler out of its misery and call round for a new installation. I would really like to share our experience with you all and commend a first class service from Flame... The History - In Milton Keynes, the first thing we encountered was a number of time-waster so-called engineers calling round / missing appointments or acting like God had given them a special calling in life and they were above any detail or questions... We had one idiot call round who would not put anything down on paper. Another Moron that, when asked to provide some information on historical work done and any references, stated that Us calling him should be a good enough reference - and finally we had one chap who came round once and walked through the house with his SHOES on and on a cream carpet coming in from the rain - and had absolutely no respect. We were tired / angry and fed up. Then by chance My Mrs found Flame Gas Services - and called them round - I was out, but upon my return she told me that a REALLY NICE GUY called Steve had come round and he had given her a lot of time and talked her through everything... I still was not convinced - but, that is only because i was not at the meeting and ego was probably getting the better of me - Anyway, 48 hours after this meeting a professionally typed up quote on letter-headed paper was sent to my Mrs by Steve... Could I have been wrong? Well, at this point I should have listened to my Brain - but we still had one quote to come in and a local tradesman came round and in amongst him walking through my house with his effing shoes on and saying in a broad cockney twang - "yeah mate, we can do that and yeah mate we can do that..." - He saw flame's quote on the mantel - Well, all i got from him was: "mate you shouldn't use Flame - they're this and they're that..." He left! Ha, I thought - and when my Mrs returned from work - i said, "See, Flame are crap - this other guys has given me 10 reasons not to use them...." End of subject... So, I was set on going with the "cockney git" - and texted him 3 times and rang him twice over the course of the next two and a half weeks... What A Joke - No Show, Excuses upon excuses, upon excuses... By which time British Gas had been out twice to repair old faithful... and she was about to blow up, such was the noise the old boiler was making - Anyway, two-weeks ago, my Mrs showed me the quote again and asked me for the sake of my own well-being to speak with Steve... I begrudgingly rang him... The very next day he was at the house at 8pm - I talked to him - He was both serious, detailed, thorough and really insightful... He asked if he could go upstairs again and check the tank - I said YES - Steve took off his shoes and went up stairs - Phew! What a relief, A guy that actually cares about my house... I told him at the end of our meeting that it was really refreshing to see that he had taken his shoes off - He said: "Oh, that is nothing - when we do a job we cover the stairs and landing professionally - so as to take care not to make anything dirty..." We then extended our work to include a tank and a timer - and agreed on a very fair price and to be fair to anyone who is getting major work done - you need to be looking at the quote which gives you what you want - We had guys telling us that we could only have an 18kw Veissman Boiler and no other boiler would fit and 18 kw was our limit (a four bed detached house, mind) - What we got from Steve when we said that our heart was set on a Worcester due to the recent reviews in which was:- "Yep, no problem - you can have a Worcester!" When we asked for a 24kw - He checked the main gas feed and said: "Yep - that is fine - here is the marginal difference in cost..." The Work - What can i say? We asked Steve not to arrive before 8.30am - as we have a 2 year old in the house and for the two days that the guys worked on the house - they were there bang on 8.30am - and as every review states - they worked their hearts out - The beauty that i want to really get across is the tiling inside the house around the boiler and the brickwork outside - Perfectly matched brick work - You would be hard to find a better match - and Steve personally takes the brick that he takes off to a merchant and matches it - On the inside, we have a pack of tiles left over and there is no way that you can tell the work has been done - it is so neat... On one radiator alone, I personally witnessed the guys spending 2 hours to get it working... And the beauty is:- we now have a multi-programmable controller - and everything that we asked for we got - But it doesn't end there - these guys clean up every 60 minutes - their vacuum cleaner is on - and 30 minutes after the job was finished a van turned up and took away all the rubbish - WORLD CLASS! To give these guys the best gratuity that I can think of and In order to really thank them - i am going to leave my mobile number, if anyone ever wants to call me and for me to provide further information - My name is Mo - and my number is: 07734 904 439 - call me or text me and I will by happy to provide you with any further information - But, really you will never have to - as these guys are Masters of Customer Service - and when something as important as a major installation can be viewed by so many idiotic, a-hole engineers in Buckinghamshire as a favour to you THE CUSTOMER - We were so happy to have a company treat us like kings for the time it took to install the system... New Boiler, 3 x Radiators all in 1 1/2 days!!

we recently decided to replace our 34 year old boiler for a younger (more efficient model) - and decided at the same time to have it relocated to the airing cupboard upstairs and have some radiators replaced. We called a few local tradesmen who quoted, but Bob at Flame was by far the most informative and professional....and just a nice friendly man....there quote wasn't the cheapest but I just felt in safe hands. The team of Steve, DJ & Noddy turned up at 7.50am on the day they promised and worked like Trojans - never stopping for lunch just eating on the go. The old boiler was out within 2 hours!! And the brick work to replace the hole it left is an amazing job. Nothing was too much trouble, no questions too stupid and nothing they came across phased them. At the end of day 1 - they cleaned up so well you really wouldn't have thought they had been!! The attention to detail is amazing at the end of the job, they hoovered, cleaned the floors and even used a spot cleaner on the carpet. I cannot praise these guys enough - they are a phenomenal team who I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. If you want a local, reliable, friendly, competitively priced team.....look no further.Report this

I felt that care was taken to ensure that the estimate was going to be fair and accurate. Pipework was examined behind the kitchen units and at the site of the gas meter in advance to ensure it was of the appropriate diameter, together with the exterior of the property where the boiler was being located, and I immediately had confidence in the company. Good and thorough advice was given about the boiler options by Flame Gas Services. I had three other quotes from other companies which were very broadly in the same price zone, but less attention to detail was taken by the other companies in my opinion. Flame Gas Services were flexible and very accommodating regarding when the work could be completed. Due to difficulties with the weather, some cosmetic final exterior finishing-off where the new flue was located had to be completed at another time, but this was done as promised at the earliest opportunity. The property (interior and exterior) was completely left completely tidy, and the new boiler and radiator have been trouble-free since installation. I have every confidence that if there was ever a problem with the new boiler that Flame Gas would provide an excellent after sales service. I would have absolutely no hesitation in using Flame Gas services for any future work I required.Report this
New boiler installation - very good and professional service from Flame Gas

Winter had started and our (very old) boiler decided it was time to retire. Being without central heating, we needed to have it replaced on short notice. After sending out requests for quotes to three different suppliers, Flame Gas was very prompt to respond and came around to quote for the price of having a brand new boiler installed. Bob, who came to check our requirements, was very helpful and friendly and provided clear advice on the most appropriate replacement boiler. He quoted us a reasonable price and was not at all pushing towards a sale and did not charge us for the assessment. He even provided a leaflet for the MK Boiler Cashback scheme and explained the process involved in getting £150,- back from the council towards our new boiler. Flame Gas was able to install our boiler on short notice, and the two installers were very professional, friendly and tidy. They did a great job installing the new boiler and two new radiators, flushed the whole system and made sure everything was working as it should. The work was completed in time and the house was left in a tidy state. The boiler is working very well, as are the two new radiators which were installed very professionally. We paid the exact amount we were quoted at the start and were overall very happy with the service provided. We would certainly use Flame Gas Services again should the need arise and recommend them without reservation.Report this
