Getting better again
20/11/2011 by uk_mkh
This cinema has been through some tough times recently . It was great when I first visited in 2005 when it was virgin I think. Then became cineworld and now empire. During the last 6 years, the establishment went down (broken seats, etc) due to no money being used to keep the place running. Of course, that meant people stopped going ad hence they had even less money. However in the last year, they have started to fix all these things which means we have started to visit more often. We used to go to uxbridge but now since this is closer and cheaper and our local cinema, we decided to continue to support them. Prices and food is cheaper than other cinemas plus u get free Parking. Tuesdays even better. I wish they can continue to survive and hope they paint the place inside- that alone would make it feel like a new cinema.Report this
Cheap, free car parking, shame about the upkeep of the cinema and local chavs!

Positives: -Its cheaper then most chain cinemas and there is a wide range of films available including Bollywood films. -You get free car parking! This is great, even if you have been in Slough the whole day you can have your car parking paid for (Queensmere shopping centre only) Negatives: -Not the cleanest of cinemas, many seats have been ripped and are out of order. - The majority of times I have visited this cinema the film has been interrupted by silly teenagers looking to mess around and chat loudly- suppose this isn't entirely the fault of the cinema!Report this
The Empire Strikes a cord...
23/10/2010 by Denver
...and not a good Chord. Slough Empire has lost it's way over the years. I found the seating very uncomfortable for those long movies. Empire also go mad with advertising, and you could be waiting a very long time beyond the advertised film start time, before it actually begins. The shop is crazily expensive, but this in fairness seems to be a trait with all cinemas these days. Current management have tried to give the place a face lift, but it's still nowhere near as good as other cinemas in the county. They must know they are losing Slough customers to the likes of Maidenhead and Wycombe. People will travel for comfort on their big movie night out. In my opinion, a complete refurb must be long overdue, but it would take something like a new IMAX screen to draw in the crowds again.Report this
