We offer an X ray reporting service free of charge for our colleagues in primary care practice and while we endeavour to report within 24 hours of receiving the X ray pictures (either by telephone to their practice, or in writing if we can’t make timely telephone contact), very occasionally we don’t manage that and I am sorry if you feel we have let you down. I have looked into the several dozen radiographic report requests sent to us over the last few weeks and I can’t find any that match the (limited) details mentioned here. We have a surgeon available 24-7 and our regular referring vets know that they can contact us direct by ‘phone and many do so, sometimes before the X rays have even got to us! The scenario described in this post is unusual in that the poster reports a delay of over a week yet we have no record of a follow-up call from a vet. I have identified three delayed reports over the last couple of weeks – one was a client chasing us for a report on radiographs that we hadn’t received (they arrived the following day); one was for some images sent to the home email of one of our surgeons who was out of the country on holiday (that was reported the day she got back albeit three days later than we would have liked) and the third was a set of digital images copied onto a disc that could not be opened by our computers as the disc was corrupted. It is not clear why these radiographs were being sent for review – if the diagnosis was apparent on the plain X rays then CT could have been arranged the same day and if the diagnosis was not apparent on the radiographs, there was little to be gained from further review and again, CT could have been arranged as soon as the same day – we don’t do waiting lists and we are available to receive referred cases at all times. I am sorry that you are disappointed by our service – while we are well aware that “you can’t please all the people all the time”, we try our best and will continue to do so. I hope that your pet is doing well – I know Andy, Ciara and Turlough, the lead vets at Torrington’s very well and while we would have much preferred to be looking after things for you at Croft, I know that your pet is in competent, caring hands.Report this

My local regular vet sent x-rays to Croft for referral and after 8 days they had not even looked at them! And did not return my vets calls! On this basis I presume they would not have time to perform a CT scan and an operation if needed with the skill, care and attention I would want/expect. So the x-rays have been sent to Torrington Orthopaedics and they got back to my vet and myself the same day and I have a referral appointment within 3 days. Don't use Croft, find somewhere else.Report this
