COVEY stands for COmmunity Volunteers Enabling Youth. We have a long history in recruiting, training and supporting volunteer befrienders and the young people they work with. COVEY volunteers provide befriending outings on a regular basis to young people in South Lanarkshire. growth of self-esteem , developing confidence, developing interests and new skills.
Generally befriending involves a volunteer having a weekly outing with a young person. This regular outing provides the opportunity for them to try new things, widen their horizons and engage in the wider community.
COVEY befrienders share one thing in common; a genuine interest in young people and a willingness to spend time with them. Volunteers normally see a young person for a few hours on a weekly basis and decide what activities they will enjoy together.
