Cafe Rouge is a chain of Brasserie-style restaurants serving a range of light meals and drinks within a French atmosphere. There is a large choice of dishes as well as hot and cold drinks which makes this restaurant a good stop off point for tea and snacks rather than grand dinners.
Good Quality French Food, Nicely Situated

Whilst there's no hiding that Cafe Rouge is a chain, there is still great food to enjoy. Sheffield has two Cafe Rouge restaurants and the newly built city centre eatery is somewhat larger than the cosier Rouge on Sheffield's trendy Ecclesall Road. It also boasts a larger outdoor dining area which overlooks the town hall and peace gardens, with its fountains and grassy spots. The interior is pleasant and on the walls hang retro paintings and photos, adding to the authentic French feel of the restaurant. The service is very friendly and polite (as mentioned by another reviewer) and this is definitely something that stands out. On the menu, you will always find something to suit your taste, but it's the desserts which are not to be missed, with waffles, crépes and profiteroles all on offer.Report this

My family and I have eaten here on a number of occasions and always had a nice meal served by polite and attentive waiting staff. Let's be honest, this is part of a chain and the food is mass produced, but for all that it is consistent in it's quality and quite tasty and authentic. I'd recommend either the sausage or the steak sandwich which are bath great for a light bite. The range offered for children isn't extensive but my son has always enjoyed his meal and is keen to visit again. The location is great too and it makes a perfect after shopping or pre theatre venue because of it's central location.Report this

this place looks really nice set near the peace gardens next to the town hall. Unfortunately the food is a little disapointing and it is in my opinion really overpriced. I once had a meal with lamb and it wasn't as warm as it could have been and I was very ill afterwards which may have been a coincidence. I have only been using Tesco Clubcard Deals and if I had to pay the real prices I certainly wouldn't have bothered. The place itself is really nice though, all glass frontage and very clean and modern and it would be a nice place to go with work collegues if you are more interested in a nice glass of wine than the food. The coffee looks nice as well and they have tables out in the peace gardens where you could sit on one of those rare days when its warm enough. I'd say the food choices are not very appealling to children for example they had a dish with mashed potatoes but they didn't do gravy with it so it was a bit dry for my kids. Maybe its a French thing that they don't do gravy.Report this
