I'd reccomend Broadway to any film fanatics that want to avoid the impersonal and busy chain cinemas. Not only do they show the better quality of the blockbuster releases but some brilliant indipendant and world films too. For the past 2 years my boss has been kind enough to hold the company christmas party an Broadway and it has been excellent. We hired a private screen to watch a christmas film (last year we chose It's a Wonderful Life!) and then had Christmas dinner in the Mezz Lounge. The food was excellent and it felt very special to have our own private screen. Deffinaitly worth doing!Report this
Cosy, Lovely, Artsy!

I recommend The Broadway Cinema in Nottingham City Centre, especially if you want to avoid the crowds of teenagers and families that frequent other cinemas in Nottingham (especially The Cornerhouse’s Cineworld and The Showcase in Dunkirk). I love this cinema simply because it usually has all those World Cinema and independent/international film releases that just aren’t shown anywhere else in Nottingham...although sometimes films are only screened for a mere week, meaning that you are restricted by a small time window and limited film showings. If you are a true film buff with interest in non-Hollywood Blockbusters...go to The Broadway! To me, The Broadway has a cosy, familiar feel and I like its small size – yes, its screens cannot match those of Cineworld etc, but the chairs in Screen 2(?) which has seating specifically for couples (ooh la lal) are extremely spacious and comfortable. Also, The Broadway has a lovely bar/restaurant attached – which is very handy if you want to just hang around for longer. There is a pleasant table & seating area at the entrance for all of you arthouse smoker types or for those who want an alfresco pint.Report this

Having visited the Broadway to view a series of short films a friend had worked on, I left incredibly impressed by the facilities. The seats were comfortable, the screening rooms were clean, and the small size helps give an wonderful feeling of intimacy which you don't get with larger cinema chains. The food was quite expensive, but the café/bar was good enough for us to return occasionally to the cinema, just for something to eat. I can't really comment on the ticket prices (mine was free), but a quick look at the box office reveals ticket prices slightly above those of a chain, which is to be expected at an independent cinema such as the Broadway.Report this
Unique Independent Cinema

Broadway is a cinema in Hockley, just out of the centre of Nottingham. In comparison to the main, chain cinemas which frequent the city centre, Broadway shows a selection of arthouse and independent films which often make a refreshing change from the mainstream national releases. They show a somewhat selective group of mainstream releases, which is handy if you're looking to see a particularly popular film. The cinema itself is gorgeous and has incredibly comfortable seats! Food is fairly expensive if I remember correctly, but with student discount on the tickets these are incredibly reasonable! Brilliant if you fancy seeing something different and independent!Report this
