Hear hear to Theref's review. His vehicle must have been in at the same time as my golf! Someone had hit my parked vehicle but thankfully had left their details. The claims company that dealt with my claim also sent my car here, it had drivers side door mirror damage (hubby had temporarily cable tied it back into place to avoid it damaging the door further and to avoid having a hole where the electrical wiring came out), not being able to open drivers door fully, paintwork and dinting to drivers side wing and alloy. When they eventually brought it back, wing had been repaired and resprayed, new alloy fitted, but had left traces of polish all over, but mainly had not bothered to repair the door mirror!!!!! Their excuse ..... the assessor deemed it to be old damage, further enquiries with my insurance company showed that they hadnt even bothered to quote for repairing it even though it was noted on all claims as damaged during the accident. Even the driver who delivered my car couldnt understand why it hadnt been done. The attitude of the other "company representative" when i refused to sign acceptance paperwork was "trust a woman to be awkward!" Upon further inspection they had actually damaged the paintwork on the cill whilst straightening out the wing! once this and a new door mirror was fitted (badly i might add) i finally managed to accept the work, but only as my new vehicle was waiting to be collected from the dealer. I formal complaint was lodged with my insurance company and claims handling company about the service and attitude of the staff at Bowmans. Disappointing really as I have used them many years ago and could not fault the service, guess its all down to the fact that Mr Bowman Snr has obviously retired now.Report this
Bowmans Shoddy Work

My Mercedes was damaged after being hit from behind but the shock also cracked the windscreen (it is a convertible, so is very rigid). The claims handlers for my insurance company insisted that it went to this garage. The car was returned with cutting compound all over it, the badges were incorrectly positioned (a dealer would spot this immediately and know it had been repaired at some time), the number plate light section was not replaced correctly and hanging down, there was paint overspray on the boot seals and hinges, there were masking lines in the paint, and the boot would not shut properly and the wipers now do not clear the whole screen. There is clearly not any quality control process at this garage and I would say that basically they are a bunch of cowboys and should be avoided at all costs especially if you have a quality car - DO NOT let them anywhere near it.Report this
