Traditional Real Ale bar
11/02/2010 by kmacphail
I enjoyed a couple of pints in this establishment in the centre of Inverness. The first thing that I noticed was the excellent selection of beers available; 6 were on, mostly all from the north of Scotland. However the other thing that was noticed was that the place was dead, OK so it was early but the town was very busy and this was in the middle of the holiday season. One family were enjoying a meal and there were two others in the bar. I enjoyed a pint of Orkney Best, the quality was slightly above average, still drinkable. The place is very clean and traditional, a typical real ale bar. The service was excellent the barmaid was very helpful and pleasant, the other punters in the bar did make conversation with me, however neither of them were Inverness locals. I think this bar has enormous potential, decent area of the town, a good selection of cask ales. However this may be part of the problem, I think my beer may have been sitting in the taps a bit too long and as a result this comprimised the quality. Worth a try, I would like to see this place when it is busy.Report this
