A restaurant gone to the dogs
28/08/2011 by prussian
I have eaten at the restaurant in the past and the food was excellent as it has been whenever I have ordered a take-away. That was until last night, 27/08/11. I ordered several meals including a chicken dish and a lamb one, also onion bhajis, keema nan, samosas, Bombay aloo & rice and it proved to be the worst meal I have probably ever had anywhere. I was very surprised. Both chicken and lamb were very tough and entirely tasteless. The lamb included what looked like lumps of offal, with tubes emanating from it and with a rubbery texture, it was disgusting. The remainder of the meal was equally tasteless and ended up in the bin. I can only assume that they now buy only the cheapest cuts of meat, have changed their chefs or that they simply scraped the leftovers together and bunged in some offal to fill up the container. Needless to say they have lost a customer. Their standards have obviously dropped considerably. Do not eat there. As for a star rating, I have been forced to give it 1 only because I can not Review this without one, but minus 5 would be more appropriate. A dreadful experience.Report this
Delicious pistachio chicken!

A very modern Indian restaurant in a quiet shopping complex (Kings Walk, near the Oracle in Reading town centre), however it is always pretty busy in this restaurant (might be a good idea to book in the evening/weekends). The relatively small and open plan space can get pretty noisy when it's full, so I do find it hard to talk with friends in this place - but that's not too much of a problem because we're busy eating the yummy food anyway! My fave is the pistachio chicken!Report this
Good contemporary Bengali Food

Went last week for a birthday celebration and loved it. I haven't been since it changed hands some time ago and I'm glad to see that both the menu and the quality of the food haven't slipped. The food is very authentic and the variety of dishes, both those you would expect to see and some more exotic dishes, is very good. Not the cheapest for Indian, but a great atmosphere and tasty food with a good town cetre location.Report this
