Strongly recommend avoiding Bar du Marche. The manager is offensive in his way of speaking to patrons and also disrespectful to the customers to the border of fraud – overcharged us for our drinks and slapped on a charge on the credit card bill without us agreeing so beforehand. Terrible place.Report this

London's shame! A dishonest boss who exploits young waitress came to London! His technique: hiring waitresses for tests a few days or a week and arrange for transfer without paying ridiculous finding excuses! Ask restaurants around, they will confirm the info! Not surprisingly, the waitresses are never the same and that no remains of more than 2 weeks! The waitresses are not paid the money and claim to have made insulting! Obviously they have got a little compensation equal to any work! Although he appears familiar and warm actually hides a crook pretending to be a good boss! It is also the first to say that London restaurateurs exploit young people in search of foreign work! Shame on you to go add this evil con artist by going to eat at home!Report this
The French are so relaxed about time

The starter took about 45 minutes to arrive. The main course took another 45 minutes. The bill took 15 minutes at which point we got up to get it ourselves. The Lobster was overcooked and the cake was frozen solid. We were sat downstairs near the toilet and you can smell the bleach/cleaning solution. The bread basket had dust or old crumbs in between the straw, which came into contact with the food. The bread was burnt.Report this

I went to the bar du marché last night and what a terrible experience it was. I ate there several times in the past and the food was always good so I don't know what happened. Maybe the management changed...the standards definitely have. The stuffed mussels were swimming in oil and the mash served with the boeuf bourguignon was clearly out of a packet. The service also very slow and not very efficient. I definitely won't go back there and will warn the people I know.Report this

Great little atmospheric, very reasonable French style cafe in the middle of Soho. Food is simple, well cooked and good value. Limited bar, if you wanted a plethora of brighly coloured alchopops then you will need to look elsewhere. This can get very crowded, if you need a lot os space to enjoy your meal then I suggest you arrive early or leave it late, possibly avoid Thursday & Fridays completely. I love this place and return time & again, Patrick is a genial host with a very dry and deadpan sense of fun! Try & enjoy!Report this
Comme à la maison!

Finally I found an inexpensive French place in London where the food and the atmosphere is just like back home! The "patron" is a character and the menu could be the one you find in a little corner restaurant. No wonder it is always full of French people! The Toulouse Sausage is great and the duck Magret is delicious. Come early as the place is quite small despite the few table at the lower ground floor.Report this

A firm favourite of ours for a relaxed meal. The outside tables are hard to bag, and the tables are squashed together but that's part of the charm. Perfect for moules frites, steak frites, the usual French tastes. Wine is good. A small bar sits about six and I've happily sat there reading a book. There is a downstairs but that's not such fun. Gets really busy so get there early if you haven't booked.Report this

I am not writing about the food because I haven't tried it. I went there for wine and I really liked the atmosphere. Quite busy place with a French touch. I liked the staff ,they were nice and welcoming. If you don't eat you will have to sit on the bar which is great!Report this
