We were taken in by "Don", paid up front then started to worry when things didn't happen when they should have. Fortunately we got a very small room floored some weeks after expected. Must say his men Tommy and Michael are fantastic tradesmen, working in difficult circumstances they brought humour to our situation and when provided with the materials did a great job.Report this

Now currently trading under West End Flooring, 216 Great Western Rd. Do not be taken in by the outwardly bumbling, eccentric, absent minded demeanour of this abhorrent individual. I and several others have been taken for several thousand pounds and no flooring. Police were even summoned to the scene of several aggrieved individuals looking for both their money and goods. Trading Standards and HMIR are being contacted. He resides at Broomhill Rd Erskine!Report this
NEVER GIVE THIS MAN YOUR BUSINESS!!!!
23/07/2013 by muddles101
As with other reviewers I found out too late that this man/ company operating from this shop should not be trusted. I paid a large deposit for flooring that repeatedly failed to be delivered and then when I wanted to cancel my order because of it, despite repeated promises that my deposit would come back in full, it hasn't and I will be going through the courts and Trading Standards for recourse. Beware that the shop name listed as Abco has been petitioned to be struck off (and has a range of small claims court actions against it recently) but Donald King is still trading from these premises under the new name of West End Flooring. Please, please, please do not be fooled into parting with any money or giving this man your custom. I would give this man/business negative star ratings if only I could!Report this
Do not trust this man

This would be a zero rating if allowed. We agree with all the other comments. We have been waiting over a year for a satisfactory resolution. We have been supported by Trading Standards and CAB and are at the point of taking court action.Report this
Nothing short of fraud

Donald King “Don” is a crook. He will take your money, you won’t get your flooring. He will lie to you about if / when it is to be fitted time after time after time. I have heard that he has used customers credit card details to make his own ppurchases, that he has taken money and then denied having taken it. In short this business is a fraudulent scheme covered up by a bumbling air of incompetence. Don’t even consider it. I have reported him to trading standards and HMRC. Jail is to good for Mr KingReport this
DO NOT BUY FLOORING FROM THIS MAN!!!!

We unfortunately read the reviews on here too late and it's cost us thousands and three months after starting the work its still not finished! It's a sham don't be fooled by Donald - what he sells you isn't what you get (if it ever actually gets delivered/anyone turns up when he says/actually any things fitted) - the colour/quality will not be as you thought you'd picked - but his invoices are so vague in description he's covered himself on that one. He's a nightmare to deal with - once you've paid your deposit that's the last you'll see of that and if you do decide to go with Abco or like us read the reviews too late - you will be in the same situation and don't hand over your credit card details you'll be buying someone else's carpet !Report this

Avoid - would give it zero if it would allow!!! We paid for our wood in full and agreed to have it delivered when work was being done on our house. However, this date came and went with no delivery, despite it then being 3 months after we paid in full. We were told various whereabouts of the wood, but essentially with no delivery, and false promise after false promise. Final straw was when we were told the fitter would finally deliver our wood one evening so came home early from work, for the fitter not to turn up, and no decency of a phone call. We eventually asked for refund, but are still waiting. It is now 5 months since we paid for the wood. I would recommend avoiding at all costs, there far more reliable companies out there who will have your new floor done and dusted in a couple of days, as it should be.Report this

Avoid - would give it a rating of zero if it would allow me to!!! Paid for the wood in full and agreed to have it delivered when work was being done on our house - however, this date came and went, with no wood being delivered, despite it then being 3 months after paying for the wood. We were told various whereabouts of the wood, but essentially with no delivery, and false promise after promise. Fitter also did not turn up when agreed. Now awaiting a full refund, and of course, promised daily that we will receive it, and have still not. It is now 5 months since we paid for the wood in full. I would recommend avoiding this company at all costs (unless you have a spare 6 months and the patience of a saint).Report this
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

After a month of promises and delays we obliged by lifting and skipping our old carpet to help speed up the process. Two weeks of more promises and delays where we live with furniture in piles the carpet was eventually delivered and cut on our back patio. The actual fit was to take 2 days. A week and a half into this two day fit we still have furniture in piles, bits of carpet cut and strewn round our house and empty promises to return to complete the job. None of the carpet has been fitted beyond being cut and laid on the floor. The fitter appears for work around 1 or 2 in the afternoon if we are lucky, often he does not appear. My husband and son in law were drafted in as labourers. Our house has been left like a building siteReport this
Left out of Pocket with Work Undone

Three and a half months ago we paid Abco an £1000 deposit for carpets to be fitted in two bedrooms. We are still waiting for the work to be done. We're now trying to put our house on the market but are still waiting for the carpets to be fitted. Abco continue as before, putting a date in the diary when they say that they will come and then don’t turn up and don’t tell us why. I have had a very difficult and stressful time with this company and I would strongly recommend that no-one makes the same mistake as us in getting them to fit your carpets. If ABCO do eventually get round to fitting our carpets we will re-post to that effect – but frankly so far the experience hasn’t been one that I’d want to re-live.Report this
