Eyebrow threading, from £17, Blink Brow Bar
The top gift for a loved one on Valentine’s Day (according to latest independent stats) is flowers, and chocolates followed rather strangely by an I-Pod. Personally I’d like to see a little bit more originality from my beau this V-Day.
I’m hoping for a pair of killer heels (Louboutins, hello?) but I’m sure he’ll settle on lipstick. Avon’s new Ultra Rich Mega Impact Lipstick (down from £8 to £5) comes in eight tantalizing shades including Charged Cherry and Divine Wine. Darling, take the hint.
For him I’ll be investing in Strutt Couture’s new footwear for men. Designed by none other than footballer Rio Ferdinand, this is the first collection the footwear brand has done for men. FYI, my pick are the dark brown strap detail basketball pumps (£140) and tan leather winkle pickers (£135). Expect a stampede when they hit stores next month, not least from half the England football team.
Anyway enough about Valentine’s Day, London Fashion Week is nearly upon us and I’ve got to step up my grooming game. So when better to book into my favorite beauty bar Blink for an eye and eyebrow make over?
Threading is a quick and painless way of having excess eyebrow, lip or chin hair removed and it’s easier and quicker than waxing or plucking. My technician used fine cotton thread to shape my unkempt brows. The process took under 10 minutes, was reasonably priced at £17 and I was left with beautiful arches that will be hair free for a week or more.
False lashes are my beauty indulgence so at Blink I also had a fluttery pair applied to flirt my way through a week of London Fashion Weeks parties. I don’t want to have to bother with mascara in between rushing from show to show and if you have a hectic job then try the ‘Chic’ treatment like I did (£60). A full set of Twiggy style falsies are applied individually with special lash preserving glue and last between 2-3 weeks without any damage to your own eyelashes. You can also have lashed applied just to the corner of your eyes to give a wide eyed effect (£30). Perfect for a party, Valentine’s night or just because…
