There is plenty that can be done about the stretch marks that often accompany a new addition to the family, according to skincare product provider Flexitol.

According to the group, as many as 75 to 90 per cent of new mums are left with red lines on their abdomen following pregnancy, although their appearance can be improved if affected areas are treated with natural oils.

Studies carried out by the University of Sydney found that Flexitol Naturals Skin Nourishing Oil may help improve the appearance of skin by nourishing and hydrating it, with active ingredients including vitamin E, coconut oil and avocado oil all helping to reduce the visibility of stretch marks.

Nine out of ten users found it reduced the appearance of uneven skin tone, while 77 per cent saw an improvement in the appearance of scars.
