  1. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - never ever go to The Peacock

    03/03/2013 by

Never ever ever book with The Peacock Bar. I made arrangements to go there for my hen night three months ago and it was confirmed with the manager by email at the time. He told us that, as long as we were dining (and could choose anything from the menu), we could reserve seats. I phoned the morning of the hen night to confirm the booking and he told us, because the guests had chosen from the buffet menu, we had lost our table and would have to try and find seats or stand. I told the bookings manager how upset I was because I'd invited older members of my family (including my nan) who couldn't stand to eat and he started shouting at the top of his voice down the phone about how I'd made my choices and told me not to come. He then emailed to say that we'd actually woken him up from sleep which was why he was confused (even though we called the phone number that was given on The Peacock website, who would imagine that it was the bookings manager's own number??). I told him the atmosphere was so bad now that I was going to try and find somewhere else and he started TEXTING my phone saying he was glad we weren't coming, emailing me rubbish. I've never ever dealt with such an obnoxious, rude (and, if I can add, slightly un-balanced) person in my life. NEVER EVER go to this place. They do not deserve your money or your time, especially if it's a really special occasion for you. We got a last minute booking at a bar in London who thankfully picked up the pieces of night that The Peacock had ruined

  3. It was so horrible I had to leave after 30 mins

    18/11/2012 by

Our waitress was lovely. The other staff and food were average. But the place is so desperately shabby you feel sorry for those who work there and have to face the customers faces. I booked a table to have a night out with my girlfriend in a burlesque/cabaret nightclub, and I was expecting to find at least a little bit of taste, something similar to what I had found in every other burlesque/cabaret nightclub I had visited before. When I entered the place, I was shocked. It is an old pub that pretends to be a nightclub. But it still has big windows without curtain, so you can see the street and everybody outside can see you. It has bright lights as if it was a third class cheap pizzeria. The music is loud during dinner and so disgustingly pop. Sad colours all around. It looks like and oratory or a back-shop. And horrible horrible horrible furniture.. low quality outworn pieces, such as ridiculous chairs and tables, covered with paper tablecloths (!), scattered randomly and without any logic/taste.. everything is so shabby. This place will never be as classy as you expect a burlesque/cabaret nightclub to be, unless someone asks the owner/manager to quit their job and let someone else refurbish it all. I left 30 minutes after I arrived, cause my eyes couldn't take it any more.

  1. Thanks for my hen do!

    09/10/2012 by

I booked an area for my hen do and had such a brilliant night! The atmosphere was amazing, the stage shows were hilarious and the DJ was awesome. Drinks were a bit pricey but entry was free so can't really complain. We ordered food but I didn't really eat much because I wasn't that hungry (and had drunk too much). It looked yummy enough though. My only complaint would be that our area was a little on the small side. But we did book last minute and were told this when we booked. Just happy we got to sit somewhere really. The other hen party there had booked cupcake making lessons, which looked good fun. I wish we had done the same now. We all had a great night though and would highly recommend.

  2. Great cocktail-making lessons!

    03/10/2012 by

My fiance and I booked to have cocktail making lessons at The Peacock for an informal engagement party, for a small group of close friends. We wanted to mark the occassion but to also have a bit of fun with it. And fun we certainly had! We were taught to make various Martinis, layered shots and long drinks such as Mojitos (my personal favourite). They taught us how to mix the colours of each ingredient properly and how to serve the cocktails correcty. Although the best bit of course had to be the tasting! Absolutley delicious and very proud of our efforts. We stayed for a bit of food and to enjoy the DJ and stage shows which were all really good fun. The DJ even played Bon Jovi for us! Thankfully I managed to escape going up on stage because I was outside having a ciggie at the time. I would definitely recommend the cocktail making lessons for anybody wanting to have a bit of fun celebrating something with friends. Great night all round.

  3. Wonderful cupcake lessons & fab burlesque show!

    26/09/2012 by

After searching for a somewhere a little different to celebrate my 30th Birthday, we came across The Peacock. I read a few mixed reviews and to be honest was a little aprehensive about booking but I was pleasantly surprised. We booked to have cupcake making lessons (the only place we could find south of the river that did this) and this was so much fun. We were expertly taught how to make yummy tasting and beautiful cupcakes. After the cupcake making lesson, we had a bite to eat at the table we had reserved. Plenty of room for everybody to be seated and more than enough to eat - great food selection too. We really enjoyed the delicious and exotic looking cocktails, although a few of my friends probably had a few too many. The DJ was fab and played a mix of 80's songs and modern music. But my favourite part of the night by far were the burlesque performers. There was an Amy Winehouse drag act (I have never laughed so much!) and a rather risque girl doing something rather '1930's' with a feather boa! They even got me up on stage because it was my birthday where the Amy Winehouse guy made lots of jokes at my expense! I took it as best I could. My friends and I had so much fun, everything we had organised went so well and I loved the little surprises that we were not expecting too. It was really a 30th Birthday to remember! I decided to mark it as expensive because the drinks are quite pricey. But with all the entertainment that is provided for free, and the fact that it is free entry, makes it worth paying a little more for the drinks.

  2. Seriously good fun!

    25/09/2012 by

Went to the Peacock with my gals and the place was rocking! It was packed full of people all dressed up, dancing to 80's/90's tracks and having a blast! There were were also entertainers who kept on popping up on stage, dragging people out of the crowd to embarrass them. Hilarious! The cocktails were deadly, a llittle bit pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for. They were seriously yummy! I haven't had such a fun night out in ages!

The best little 80s club in London if you want a big night out with a really fun crowd. You have to be prepared though for the madness that this place generates and the crazy people it attracts. We love it

  1. Super place for cupcake classes, chocolate making & cocktail lessons

    14/12/2011 by

What a super little place. The venue is teeming with people doing cucpcake classes, chocolate making and afternoon tea on Saturday afternoons. I can see why it is so popular as we booked a chocolate & cupcake class for grannies birthday and the staff really fussed over here and dressed her up to the nine's and generally spoilt us rotten. The vide is great with everyone dressed up and very friendly teachers too. We stayed on for afternoon tea we were enjoying ourselves so much. A really different and fun Saturday afternoon out.

  2. Great office Christmas party

    03/12/2011 by

Wow a company Christmas party event that is actually fun. Like I am sure most people I have had to endure too many so so company Christmas parties. It is no so much that the food (is food is always so average at themed restaurants?) is so so, the drinks are so so or even that the entertainment is poor it is just that the whole evening feels a bit forced and the different elements do not gel together so what what is actually a pretty expensive evening which we want be fun for our staff comes off as a bit of a damp squib. This year I let the junior staff pick the venue and they did a heck of a better job than us old f*rts and picked a burlesque place called Peacock bar well off the beaten track in Clapham Junction which my wife and I had never hear of . From the minute you walk into Peacock Bar you know it is going to be different. All the staff are all dressed up 30s style and very cheeky - it has been some time I suspect since my wife has been asked to show her ID and been told she looks like a "very very naughty girl" . She loved it Thirty minutes later I am behind the bar with all my staff cheering because I have just made a cocktail so vulgar that it would be considered chavvy in Faliriki and I am loving it too. The food much to my surprise is excellent but the real killer is the shows. I expected I would be sitting down to watch a show a bit like at a theatre. Nothing of the kind - not only are lots of people up dancing around stage dancing around but all the shows are interactive and people from each group are being dragged on stage which of course makes it so much more engaging. And most importantly of all my staff are loving every minute of it and getting very very merry.

  3. Afternoon Tea?!

    15/11/2011 by

I attended 'afternoon tea' at the Peacock bar... and I use the title 'afternoon tea' with mighty hesitation. As a group of 11 paying around £14 each we recieved 2 plates of cucumber and tuna triangle sandwiches (about 2 each) and 7 scones and 6 shop-bought mini victoria sponge cakes to share.... after pestering the staff for more scones we were informed that they had ran out. We were offered cupcakes in compensation, these were also shop bought bases with piped icing on top, My 1 star for food is because yell wont let me give 0. Take my advice people, stay away! Book afternoon tea on lastminute.com for the same price.... but get a decent experience!

  1. Cocktail lessons and dancing

    12/10/2011 by

I celebrated my birthday here a while ago and had a great time! We did the £19 cocktail lessons where you each get 3 different cocktails and the lesson lasts for around an hour. I can't remember the guys name but he's a blonde headed Aussie so I recommend asking for him as he was top class! We had a good laugh with him and he really knew his stuff! We then had a bite to eat and enjoyed the shows and had a dance. It got a little sweaty in there but wasn't too bad. I'd descride this place as a normal party bar in terms of the music and atmosphere but then you get the performers as an added bonus. Good night and something a little different.

  3. Fab 40th B'day

    05/09/2011 by

I had a great birthday at Peacocks. It started early and I felt a little concerned, it was light outside and empty inside, comfy low sofa's against the wall, mismatch tables and then wooden chairs. I wondered what I had let myself in for and whether it was going to work, having all my friends from different walks of life coming to make cocktails and dance the night away.Gradually my party arrived and the cocktail lessons began. It was a great start to the party as we all had fun and got tipsy! During the lesson more people arrived and the venue filled out. Lesson over and we returned to our reserved space and proceeded to all drink and enjoy each other's company. The music was good party music so as people relaxed and the place filled out the dancing began. The live entertainment was fun, good idea getting people on stage, perhaps could have made more of this. If you are expecting a show then you'll be disappointed, but if you just want some good entertainment between dancing then it's spot on!Staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was great and by the end of the evening the place was buzzing. The venue is suprisingly small for such character and entertainment, but somehow they manage. As always they could do with more loo's but to be honest I've been to worse loos and queued longer at bigger posher venues so I'm not complaining. We ordered the finger food snacks and it was perfect for everyone to share and pick between guzzling cocktails.I know I was surrounded by lots of good friends, but it really was the best birthday ever; I was able to let go of my inhibitions and have fun, and everyone around me seemed to do the same. Thank you Peacocks!

  2. 30th birthday to remember

    24/08/2011 by

My girlfriend booked my 30th here as a surprise. She actually blind folded me in the taxi so I didn't even know where about in London she was dragging me too!! She walked me into the bar (still blind folded) and when she took it off all my friends were there firing party poppers. She arranged for the champagne reception too so I was handed a glass of champers straight away. I was totally blown away!! My friends had also stocked up on long island ice tea (my favourite cocktail) while they were on offer. We then sat down for the meal. It was more finger food than an actual sit down meal. It was fine but nothing special. Filled a gap though and ensured that I wasn't on my back by 9pm!! We had some more champers before the shows began. During the 2nd show my name was called out and my friends all dragged me onto stage. My friends had preperly stiched me up and I had to go along with being a millionaire business man. I was pretty well oiled by this point so went along with the banter. Wasn't anywhere near as humiliating as I thought it would be so was very happy!! It was actually a really good laugh. They had a photographer there so all the photos were up on facebook the following week so we did lots of tagging. It was such a good night and definitely one of the best birthday parties I have ever had!!

  3. Fun cupcake lesson but DO NOT eat too many :-)

    16/08/2011 by

Rather than a full on educational lesson these cupcake lessons are a lot more about having a fun afternoon. We did learn to use the different tools and different techniques etc but we spent most of it laughing away at each others terrible attampts! We had lots of practice cupcakes then took the best ones home in a nice presentation box. Be warned that eating too many of them can be very sickly! :-)

  1. Wild wild Saturday nights

    15/08/2011 by

For wild wild Saturday nights out in London I think Peacock's is hard to beat. I booked my best mate's stag party at Peacock Bar last Saturday and we had a whale of a time. The bookings process is really organized and you get a huge list of options including dining (which we did), cocktail lessons (ditto), cupcake classes (bit too girly for us!)n afternoon teas and so on - you name it they do it. The place is really busy and at least half the people - especially the girls - are all dressed up. They have a host and a photographer on the night too and the whole ethos is about letting your hair down and doing stuff you would never normally dream of. It is hard not to get caught up in the swing of things. Peacock's seems to attracts lots of extrovert not to mention flirty girls who love dressing up too. People also seem come from all over - we saw a Swedish stag party all dressed up as Vikings! The burlesque and cabaret shows are great and very interactive with lots of people being dragged on stage which is hilarious. After that it a momumentally cheesey disco. They could though do with investing a few quid in air conditioning although they do have an outside drinking terrace which is open all night. I would really recommend this place if you want a wild night out but probably not a good choice if you want a quiet romantic dinner for two, at least on Saturdays anyway. You also need to book well in advance if you want to dine. Cocktail classes are a great party option as well as being rather good value too. And dress up too.

  2. TERRIBLE-AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GO IN!

    12/08/2011 by

I booked a chocolate making class and afternoon tea through a Keynoir deal for my friend's 30th birthday. There were 7 of us in total who had paid £24 each. The date and time was arranged and we all spent an hour or more travelling to Clapham, only to find the Peacock Bar was totally shut. We rang the contact number - no answer - and then rang the deliveries number on the side door, where a confused guy eventually gave me the number of the guy I'd been in contact with. I rang him to discover he was at Glastonbury festival. He said he didn't know why the bar would be shut, and rang some of the other managers, but couldn't get through to any of them. So, we all went out for lunch to somewhere that was open. In the following weeks the Peacock bar have completely ignored all my emails. Keynoir were great and refunded our money, but the Peacock Bar are a prime example of how not to treat your potential customers, although reading the other reviews on here it's probably a good thing that we weren't able to go!Anyway, the moral of the story is, please don't waste your time or money at the Peacock Bar. And if anyone from there happens to be reading this - thanks for ruining my friend's 30th birthday, you should take some lessons from Keynoir in customer service.

Looooove the peacock bar!!!! Best place for a hen party!!! Cocktail lessons, dining and dancing with some live music thrown in. Excellent party bar!The cocktail lessons were brilliant and excellent value. We all had a good laugh behind the bar with the teachers. Our bride to be particularly enjoyed these. The food was nice but we had to wait a little too long inbetween courses. The hen didn't mind as she was quite drunk by this time of the night. We were a very large group so were lucky enough to get the cordoned off area with our own part of the bar that was for our use only. We all felt very special!

  2. The Peacock, Clapham Junction

    07/08/2011 by

Rubbish food, expensive and not value for money, a 'spit-and sawdust ' decor, only 2 women's toilet cubicles and there must have been approx 200 women there! Leave a clear drink on the table and it gets cleared away.Went to the Peacock for a hen party last night 6/8/11, and came away thinking that the whole point of the establishment is to get customers smashed on cocktails at £8 each, so that they do not realise how much they are being ripped off for the barsnacks which the place calls a 3 course meal and charges £24 a head for. With 3 of us sitting on a sofa and the rest on uncomfortable ordinary wooden chairs (conversation was difficult) we were delivered 2 plates of salami,( which I thought was a starter before expecting to be ushered into a dining area to eat a proper meal - WHAT A MISTAKE), pairs of plates followed, raw vegetables, humus and pitta bread, camenbert and pitta, cocktail sausages, DRY pastry vol-au-vents- filling = onions, 2 portions of fries, tiny spring rolls and fried monkfish pieces. No eating plates were provided, so why they put knives and forks on the table is beyond me. All finger food and with only 1 usuable hand basin in the loo due to the attendant blocking use of the other I was glad I had washed my hands as soon as I got there. The burlesque we were promised turned into a couple singing - see previous reviews from others - Is there a burlesque act? After a heated exchange with the manager in the kitchen we successfully negotiated a considerable reduction and left.Never again - A RIGHT RIP OFF!

I am happy to pay good money for anything if it is worth having but this was an absolute rip-off. A "3 course meal" turned out to be nothing more than a few low quality snacks but was advertised and charged (excessively) as 3 courses! The toilets were disgusting. My sister saw the kitchen whilst challenging them on their prices , it was dirty and not fit for purpose.

I've only ever been on one other corporate team building event and that was boring but this was great fun. We did the cocktail lesson and were split into 3 teams to give it that competitive edge. Finished the night with a 30 second time trail making a triple layered shot. Everyone was hammered and we had lots of banter in the office the day after so definitely worked as a team building night out.

We organised a birthday party night here and it was such a good night! We were there last Saturday too so am very surprised to see the bad review below. We all honestly had a brilliant time and loved the performers! Anyway, I booked our area in advance over the phone and everything was confirmed by email. The booking process was straight forward and easy although there was a lot of info to take in. We arrived before the 8.30pm cut off point as agreed and got an are in the corner or the bar so didn't have alot of people to passing to go to the loo etc etc. We received the 2 course platters promised and the flaming champagne for the birthday girl. Food was basic but there was lots of it for everyone. The music was good cheesey music that you could dance to. As we were in the corner of the bar away from the dance floor we ended up dancing on the furniture and none of the staff told us off which was brill. Seems like anything goes in this place! We all had lots of fun!

  3. There are no other words................

    25/07/2011 by

Shocking. And not in a good way. Everyone who was there last Saturday night made the most of the evening for the benefit of the birthday girl, but other than being mildly entertained by the 'blast from the past' party music, the Peacock has absolutely no re-deeming features. Having looked at their website, I was thoroughly looking forward to an evening of good food, good drink and the promised burlesque show. Instead I was left wondering whether the website that I'd visited was actually describing the same venue. On arrival we were greeted by a doorman who's efforts at welcoming you to the venue, left me wishing I'd turned round and left then. Once inside, I thought perhaps we had reached a holding room before being led through to a bar more in keeping with the purported burlesque theme. Not so. What you see is what you get. A very ordinary, run of the mill and not particularly attractive bar. From that point onwards the situation didn't improve. Drinks advertised on the flyer issued during the days before the event were unavailable. The food, which I can only imagine is similar to Iceland frozen party food, was slow and more akin to £5 per head rather than the £18 per head we were charged. And the allocated table had half the amount of seating at it, than we actually needed. And then there was the show. Actually, show is the wrong word. In three separate sessions, which I doubt lasted more than 45 minutes in total, we were treated to a female and male singer, who whilst undoubtedly could carry a tune, looked like they wanted to be there less than most of the paying punters. On the plus side, it does close. And for the majority of people who were there on the Saturday we visited, clearly the end couldn't come soon enough. The venue was almost entirely deserted, by all but the most inebriated of the many hen do's there that night, a good hour before the doors were closed on this hugely disappointing venue.

This place is great for a party! I organised my best friends hen night and I would particularly like to thank their events manager Karl for a great night. My emails were replied to within a few hours and spoke on the phone a few times too. Everything went according to plan and we all had an excellent time. Food was fine and plentiful. 2 for 1 cocktails were taken full advantage of during their happy hour. Be warned that the bar gets very busy at around 7.30pm - I think everyone has the same idea to turn up at around the same time to get a 2 for 1 cocktail before the offer ends at 8pm. The performers were really good and we got our friend up on stage to have a dance with their Liza Minelli performer. The best thing about the night was the atmosphere. Everyone was up and dancing by about 8.30pm and they get a really good crowd in there. The DJ was excellent although the music did cut out for a very short period late on in the evening. I was told that it was a technical fault and not his so couldn't be helped. The music soon resumed and we were all dancing again. All in all this is a top place to have a full on party and a really good laugh.

  3. What a disappointment....

    22/02/2011 by

After having a previous booking cancelled by another venue as they couldn't accommodate our hen night group, we came across the Peacock Bar which according to their website promised the night of our lives! The arrangements were made with Larry, the manager, whom promised us a table by the stage and in return we booked the 3 meal course for £19.00pp. To make long story short, when we arrived with our bride to be, the group who was already there since 7pm (as agreed), were put at the very back of the bar, where they keep the spare wooden chairs/bins and with no access to the stage at all. The food was a disaster and as starters we were served raw broccolis with radish and a sauce that I cannot even describe. As main course we were served one (1) hamburger sandwich cut in four pieces to share between 11 girls!!. We only saw Larry at the beginning of the night, and then had to deal with another lady, whom wasn't helpful at all. As it was a special occasion, we just carried on having our drinks (£8.00 per mojito) and tried to make the most of our night. Our bride had lots of fun, as most of her best girls were present, and managed to dance and enjoy themselves despite the lack of space and food. My advice is: If you are organising a stag/hen night or a surprise party for a friend and has the Peacock Bar in mind, make sure you go there first, make the booking in person guaranteeing your table. The place has some cosy armchairs/sofas, but the staff/managers are much disorganised and won't bother to apologise or try to make it up for you once you are there. Beware that their food option is a total rip off and that their burlesque/cabaret show is nothing but a guy/lady singing karaoke songs and bringing some of the customers up on the stage. The music is great thought , and the cocktails although pricey, are quite good.. Just make sure you get you booking confirmation in writing, so you might be lucky and get some refund in case you end up without dinner! Most likely I must say.

  1. AWFUL, DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!!

    13/02/2011 by

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!! Myself and a group of 7 friends booked tickets for NYE and were set for a great night of food, drinks and caberet. We were charged £35 as we wanted dinner. I reserved an area for 8 of us but Larry the Manager told us to get there early to be sure we secured our seats together. Upon arrival, an hour earlier than anybody else, we find that we're sat at the very back of the bar, as he couldn't accomodate all of us, even though everybody elses tables were reserved!! We were sat where we couldn't watch the caberet at all! A bit disappointing seeing as we had a birthday boy with us who we wanted to join in with the show. Dinner was to be served at 8:30pm. By 11pm, we still hadn't seen our main course. On top of this, we had to compete with the hundreds of other people that had been let into the bar who bought just £15 drinks tickets. We spent a fortune in the bar on drinks (it's very expensive), didn't get any food so were paraletic and hungry and didn't get to see the show. After speaking to the manager on the night, he promised each of us a £20 refund if I emailed the next day. I did this and got nothing back. I followed up with a call and Larry the manager said he'd refund me the money no problem as we didn't get what we'd paid for or expected. After around 7 or 8 calls and numerous emails, I still haven't seen any refund!!! Overall, the manager Larry clearly doesn't care about his customers at all. I would never go back to this bar or recommend it to anybody, there are so many other establishments in London that appreciate their customers so much more and deserve my hard earned money so much more.

    05/10/2010 by

Me and the boys had a great night at the Peacock. We payed for a few cocktail lessons for the stag and had fun taking the mickey out of his poor efforts lol. The music was good and there were plenty of good looking girls there. The atmosphere was cool and not pretentious at all. We all woke up in our hotel room feeling like death the next morning but it was totally worth it.

  3. Average to fair.

    25/09/2010 by

We booked a small space for a birthday party, which was perfectly adequate. It wasn't hard to get served but most of our party left after the first round because of the price of the drink. The acts were cabaret, not burlesque. The male singer's voice was lovely, the lady was described by another table as several cats trying to escape a bag, I didn't disagree. It had good points and bad, such as the music was incredibly wide ranging and we dance most of the night. But there was a huge number of odd men there. We had to move several times because two men kept following us and doing very odd things. The dance floor was equally as challenging as several men stood leering at all the girls dance as if we were the act. I can only assumed this is because the night is advertised badly and attracts a certain crowd. Go for the music, be cautious of the lechers.

  1. Fun Girls Night Out!

    11/08/2010 by

Came in on a Friday night after work with some work colleagues and we had the cocktail lessons which were fun and messy. Great idea to do before the night as you got 3 cocktails each for a good price! Also liked how there is a photographer to take pictures of the lesson as we didn't have a camera on us. Stayed on drinking drinks were cheap and service was quick. Cocktails were at 2-4-1 prices so we made the most of that!Watched the performances there was one lady who we really enjoyed as she pulled one of the men up on stage and it was hilarious to see him blush! She had a great voice. I even got to go up on stage and get serenaded to by the male performer (he was more cabaret then burlesque!) We even got a glimpse at a male stripper! which was hilarious! We got some food as well two courses seemed like more then enough! The food came out quick and there was allot of it.I have seen some bad reviews but my group and i honestly had a great night out. Some bad points would be the toilet door was broken in the ladies, there was no cloak room (got told in summer they didn't have one) but they ended up storing our bags for us during the evening, and gets hot inside.Positives quick service, friendly staff, cheap drinks, lots of fun, good music you can dance to, and open til late (we sadly were one of the last to leave!)I'd definitely go out to the Peacock again!

  3. Peacock the place to have your worst experience!!!

    25/07/2010 by

Normally I don?t do reviews, but my experience at Peacock bar was a completely disaster. I organized a birthday party for a friend after reading positive reviews about the place. I've booked some party treats, like flutes of champagne on reception and mix vodka shots, also the birthday cake and the flaming bottle of champagne, which I didn?t, had. Plus I?ve booked their Richard Gere guy that also couldn?t be provided, as someone else had booked him before, just on arrival they notified me with that. The service was extremely disorganized, after an hour waiting, half of our sharing plates arrived and after 45 min the other half. Besides the service disorganization, the managers didn't had the best approach. The music was good at least, but the bad occurrences are more than enough to don't make me go back and rate it as the worst night out experience that I ever had. First of all because, the treats that they offer and I pre-booked to make my friends night special, I didn?t had. Secondly, the service from managers were rude and useless.

I had the best girls night out at the Peacock Bar on Saturday night! It was so packed when we got there at about 7pm!! We had gotten some cocktail lessons which we had to wait about 30 minutes for them to start but our lovely hostess gave us a bottle of cava while we waited which we thought was a nice touch! the cocktail lessons were so much fun! my friends and i enjoyed them throughly! We ordered the £10 platter per head! nothing special but it did come out pretty quickly and with a smile considering the waitress was trying to run around in such limited space! We had a laugh with all the different hen's parties and stag do's going on! the whole night was a laugh! the DJ played some really good songs as well that my friends and i enjoyed!! overall i had a great time at the Peacock!

I recently went to the peacock (3rd July) for a friends birthday party and we got in there at about 8pm the place was packed to the rafters! There were 10 of us there and we booked a table, but we ended up having to share a table with another group which we weren't too happy about but the hostess ended up giving us free shot of sambucca and a bottle of cava on the house for our whole table! throughout the night the hostess stopped by to make sure we were comfortable occassionally even offering us table service since we had difficulty getting to the bar! we watched a few cabaret performers as there were no burlesque performers on, but the DJ made up for this with some really good tunes! we ended up staying there till late! would definitely go back!

    08/06/2010 by

Absolutely appalling venue, would prefer to give no stars, but sadly not an option! I booked a space for my Birthday for 25-30 people, only to arrive and be told that the space had been given away and to compensate 2 cheap bottles of champagne would be provided to ease the situation! The only standing room in the venue was being crammed in the small space between the cloak room and toilet, which was never going to hold 25-30 people. Friends had not only travelled from within London, but also overseas and to be told "No room, we gave it to a hen party whose no/s had increased", was not want we needed to hear! After being pushed and shoved from bar to wall and back several times by staff trying to keep the customers who had seats/space happy, my darling friends sourced a divine little cocktail bar on Battersea rise "Frieda B", where we were all made to feel very welcome and had a fabulous evening. It appeared we were not the only group to be told "your space has been given away", as we discovered whilst chatting to another lovely group of people also crammed into the space outside the toilets. I would NOT recommend The Peacock Bar to anyone. In my opinion it is badly managed and the service on offer is dreadful. AVOID AT ALL COST!! and thank goodness for Frieda B.. Highly recommend and the cocktails were delicious!!!

    23/05/2010 by

I have already reviewed on viewlondon but I think its important to get the message out on as many forums as possible. This bar was booked for my birthday last night. The manager (sleazy, sweaty and foaming at the mouth) swore at my group of around 20 ppl to move from our (tiny) booked table. We waited 30 mins for a drink. The toilets are disgusting. There is no burlesque to speak of - its a square room for two stripper poles. We left after an hour. A real scam and a shame because their website promises to much.

  2. THE PEACOCK BAR, LONDON DOES NOT DESERVE ONE STAR!

    17/05/2010 by

******AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEIR WEBSITE SAYS!!!!******We travelled from Somerset to London to celebrate my friend's 30th here - upon arrival we found Larry and were seated right by the door (which was open, with people walking in and out constantly). The chaise Longue was the most lumpiest and uncomfortable thing I had ever sat upon (and looked like it had been pulled out of a skip, along with the broken wicker seat that was on the floor next to it). After a while we asked where our champagne and crudites were (as we had pre-ordered them), Larry said something (which you couldn't understand because he was talking so fast), disappeared off to talk to another group and left us with nothing! We had to approach him again several times and were promised food and drinks but then got nothing - after an hour or so of this he came up to us and said he had messed up and needed us to move - he promised us two bottles of Moet to do so, so we begrudgingly moved (in between two groups of people on the leather sofa's next to the 'STAGE' - LOL the stage is part of the sofa) - it then took a further hour and a half to get our champagne as they had nothing from their list in stock and had to send someone out to buy it, then chill it!!! The venue was tiny, it was definitely overcrowded, there were only two ladies toilets and a massive queue all night, some girls were using the mens toilet. The food looked awful (we cancelled ours in the end after seeing the other parties and hearing the complaints). The only thing burlesque about this place were the dressed up customers coming in, the act was Andy Winehouse, the manager (Larry) seemed to be high on drugs and had white at the sides of his mouth, kept disappearing and didn't have a clue what he was doing - we will never return to this hell hole again and very much doubt that anyone who has previously visited will either. What a joke of a set up!The bar staff and photographer were very sympathetic and you could tell they were used to hearing complaints about Larry - I don't know how he can get away with it.Word of mouth is by far the best recommendation of all, and my advice is do not go near this place if you expect anything they describe on their website - 'Top London Burlesque Club' is an award I think they made up!

  3. ABYSMAL - The manager needs to get some manners

    11/05/2010 by

I have never been to such an awful venue in my life. I was supposed to come for my 30th birthday - incidentally my booking was 'missed' despite receiving an automatic email confirmation. This place is one tiny room with a horseshoe-shaped bar - it took over 20 minutes to get served. There are two toilets in the female bathroom, and there was no toilet paper at 8pm! They were also filthy. The decor described on the site is a complete lie. The decorator/designer has no idea of what "burlesque" is, it's as though rows of old couches and chairs have been put in place, making it impossible to move around. I didn't last until the show, and there is no stage so I'm not sure where the artists were going to perform. Judging by the pole set up in the middle of the square room, and the male stripper that performed for masses of crazed, screaming, middle-aged woman (there were about 5 hen parties going on), this has NOTHING to do with burlesque and is an absolute insult to the art. When I went to get my coat (this door also leads to the kitchen and so the staff are constantly bumping past you as you queue) the so-called manager, a smarmy-looking man with his shirt buttons undone till just above his waist, first screamed his head off at a member of his female staff in front of the patrons then, pretty much pushed me out of the way as I was handed my coat. I had had enough and so called him on it, told him this was the worst club I had ever been to, and he promptly told me to "f**ck off then!". He should lose his job for this kind of behaviour.

A horrible experience. The venue is in Battersea, not in Clapham as the website states. The venue is just an ordinary pub (very small). The place was very run down and also looked unclean. The toilets were particularly filthy. When the food eventually arrived, it was cold and tasteless. The majority of people gave up trying the food for fear of food poisoning. The kitchen could be seen from the side of the bar and this also looked unhygienic. Our party all found the staff and management very unhelpful and unfriendly. Also, don't expect to see a Burlesque act (not that you would want to see one, in this place). There was a karaoke singer, than a really lame Amy Winehouse 'act'.A total rip-off overall and a massive disappointment.

Like others said, we paid in advance for a three course meal but all we were given was our starter! We had to leave at 11:30 as we were too hungry to wait any longer, and we finally wised up to the fact that dinner was never coming, despite the 'managers' repeated promises that it would come 'after the next song'. Do not believe any positive review you read about this place as it is so obvious they are written by the management. There was no speed dating, no cocktail making, no decorations, no DJ and only one song sang by a dreadful Amy Winehouse-clad tranny. Only three songs were performed all night and the speed dating and cocktail making we were promised never happened. The menu magically changed as the food we pre-ordered (and paid for in advance!!!) was no where to be seen on the night. The delicious sounding steak and roast potatoes was replaced with cold lasagna and stale bread, and to make matters worse they didn't have enough food to feed everyone in our group. When we complained and asked for money back the host, Larry, was rude and told us to leave! it seemed that two tables in the restaurant were fed and dancing away by 10:00, but the rest of us (at least 60 people) were still waiting with hungry tummies at 11:15. This place needs to be shut down as they are running a total scam operation.

We were told to arrive at 7.00pm where we could take part in speed dating or making cocktails - nothing. Our food was eventually served at @9.00. The portions were tiny and lukewarm. I had the salmon in some disgusting sauce and was sick after the meal. The desserts were awful and I believe it was all frozen food and utterly tasteless. Come 10.00, still no entertainment. and another table were still be served starters. The waitress did frequently ask if we would like shots in the hope we would all get pissed and forget why we booked such an awful place. A cheesey singer come on stage at 10.15 asking for single ladies to sing/dance with him. I left the venue at 11.00 (people still waiting for food) not having seen any burlesque dancing, comedian or drag artist as advertised. In the ladies restroom the wall paper has been pulled off the wall, the floor was dirty and only 1 tap worked. If their standard of hygiene is so abysmal in the bathrooms I dread to think what the kitchen looked like. The 'manager' has little to no knowledge on how to run an establishment. His manners are disgraceful and this clearly filters down to his staff. Service with a smile is a phrase I doubt any of them have ever practiced!! We waited 45 minutes for our starters, soup really isn?t that difficult to get wrong but The Peacock chefs have an unnatural talent at even messing this up. Again after an hours wait our mains arrived one at a time. Did I miss the memo on the change of meat in a traditional the Christmas Dinner? ? The website promises all things Christmassy with hats and crackers the works.....cant say I saw any of the sort. The manager was a rather aggressive sort that looked completely out of it.I had a leek and potatoe soup which was cold and flourly followed by the a turkey roast dinner. Also opposed to fresh vegatables as stated in the menu we had luke warm frozen veg and out of the freezer roast potatoes!Rather oddly the turkey was topped with beef mince??? I have eaten a lot of roast turkey in my time and have never had it topped with beef mince. One of our friends is doesnt eat beef for religious reasons so you can imagine her shock that finding her dinner cover in beef. When she raised this with management they said that no-one had ever complained about this before and they had been serving this for the past 5 years! However it seems from the website they have only been opened a while??!! When we tried to speak to the foaming at the mouth, agggressive manger he got really shirty and basically told our friend to deal with it! Also nowhere on the menu does it talk about this odd combination which I thought you had to list what was in a dish by law?The service was dire and the food took ages. There was only 30 covers and no-one in the bar. We arrived at 7.30 and only got your main courses at 9.30. By this stage I had eaten all the bread in sight! We had pre-ordered our food beforehand so I cant imagine why everything took so long. We were due to leave about 10.30 ish and by 10.30 there was zero sign of our desserts. We landed up paying £25 per head for this Christmas extravaganza which is a lot of money for shocking food and shocking service. It is said that during the molting season the male peacock sheds his stunning plumage and reveals a lacklustre, unexceptional, grey-coloured tail which is normally hidden from view beneath his stunning train feathers. Sadly, The Peacock Bar & Club (Clapham Junction) suffers the same shortcomings: take away the tail feathers and all you are left with is a bland bar with a colourless clientele in a rather insalubrious part of South London. Just like the male of the species, the staff in this establishment display an exaggerated sense of their own importance. They have done their best to create the illusion of splendor but beneath this lies a humdrum reality. Peahens risk being disappointed. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

    16/06/2009 by

We all came late so missed the cabaret (thanks Pizza Express... or rather Pizza Slow). Place was rocking and after a few cocktails so were we. Cheesy disco house heaven full of 20-30 somethings looking fine (but rather less fine I seem to recall by end of night!)Highly recommend all round

  3. Burlesque, cabaret and 80/90s cheese all in one!

    20/04/2009 by

I was at a friends engagement party at The Peacock last night.I am not really a fan of burlesque or cabaret but they had an Amy Winehouse ("Andy Winehouse") act in drag complete with hairy chest and a really good voice who got her mannerisms absolutely right. He literally brought the house down with superb one liners (to a Hen Party -"Do you know where your boyfriend is tonight - mine's in prison) in between banging out her songsWe all drank lots of Mojitos and danced away the rest of the night to 80s and 90s stuff. Wonderful atmosphereStrongly recommend esp if can get a cordoned off area or reserved area like we had

  1. Great Groovey Go

    23/03/2009 by

We were absolutely blown away by the Peacock it ranks with LoungeLover and the original Atlantic Bar & Grill as a place which is cutting new ground on the London club scene. We booked in based on a recommendation from a burlesque artist ("Marilyn Monroe bombshell") who had peRformd there and had raved about the "perky Peacock" so I decided to have my 30th there but did not really know what to expect. The first thing you notice is the styling its all stuff from the 30s, 40s and 50s with a few Chaise Longues and Georgian gilded sofas (and a rocking horse!) thrown in too. Utterly mad but also utterly brilliantThe drinks and staff are really different too and I got talked into trying a round of Coconut flavoured Belgian beers and Chocolate gin shots. Tasted suprisingly good. But its the entertainment and atmosphere that really blew my mind. People just come on stage and do amazing shows pole dancing, singers (Frank Sinatra) and then when you think its all over in the middle of the DJ set on comes a girl singing Abba hits - everyone went wild. And everyone is so friendly you feel you like are part of some secret society.Well done the Peacock for doing something so different!

  2. Clapham's newest place to be for sure!!!

    03/03/2009 by

Got dragged to the (well they did not have to try too hard) opening party Saturday and have a wonderful time. The decor is wild sort of retro chic combined with baroque - chaise longues in a bar that cannot be legal! really good cocktails and very cute bar staff to boot. The shows were great - especially the pole ones - which got everyone in the mood for dancing later. Music was a dream and the Dj got everyone dancing especially me as i love Blondie and all that 80s stuff. The crod was uber cool but not shoreditch stuck up. Loved loved loved it.Coming back very very very soon

  3. Burlesque follwed by wild dancing to 80/90s cheese

    03/03/2009 by

I chose the Peacock Bar for my birthday bash and booked a reserved area for 30 of us.Amazed when i arrived to see all the retro furniture mixed in with antique chaise longues and huge golden peacocks on the walls We had a brill time. The pole dancing and burlesque shows were dazzling and we were all dying for a go afterwards (well teh girls anyway). However the endless Mojhitos we had drunk (very nice too!)might have had something to do with it.Then danced all night to 80/90s cheese - by super DJ who had amazing red moustache he let me twiddle.Crowd was super friendly Claphamites letting their hair down. Oh and the staff kept giving out free tequil (yuk) and sambucca shots (yum) all nightWhy has no one thought of this before burlesque performances followed by 80/90s is such a great idea.Going to make it my regular weekend hauntJen

All this set in a Victorian drawing room with a Chesterfield fronted horseshoe bar, stunning all glass spirits display with a huge golden peacock at the front door to greet you and a Victorian pulpit at the back of the bar for our Djs to preach from.
