  2. Absolutely Perfect!

I attended a wedding at The National Piping Centre recently. I was a bridesmaid and my best friend Sarah was getting married. To start, Sarah and us girls were 30 mins early and we thought we'd have to sit in the crammed car and get our dresses creased but the staff were all very helpful and found a place for us to stand out of the way of all the arriving guests. Sarah's dad is also in a wheelchair and the staff were very helpful in arranging the lift for us. The ceremony was in the auditorium and it looked gorgeous, with a red carpet for us to walk down. After the ceremony we all moved on to the drinks reception in the museum while the staff set up for the dinner. The museum was such a great place to have the drinks as it really continued the Scottish theme and was something different! We then went outside for photographs and the room was soon ready for us to sit down for our meal. The staff were quick to offer us wine on our arrival and the food was quickly served after . To start we had soup, we then had chicken with haggis, potato and vegetables and for dessert we had lemon tart. It was all delicious and the staff were very polite and helpful. After the meal we all had to wait around for a while whilst the room was sorted out for the ceilidh. That was done quickly, and we were soon up dancing the night away! A few of us stayed at the small hotel attached to the restaurant that night and once again, I have nothing bad to say! We all had a lovely cooked breakfast the nest morning which was perfect for our hangovers! I cannot fault the venue, the staff were so helpful and friendly, and the food was great! The only thing i can say is that it gets very warm in the auditorium but nothing to stop you having an amazing night! Would definitely recommend the National Piping Centre as would Sarah, the beautiful bride!

  3. Seriously tasty food

I have had a couple of lunches here now and have enjoyed it at TNPC so much I thought it was about time I wrote a wee review! I love the cosy restaurant, and there are seats outside if you're brave enough in the Scottish summer. I love seafood and the Cullen Skink is highly recommended! With the friendly staff and ideal location I hope other people go and have as good a time as I did!

  1. Lovely venue

I recently attended a wedding here, what a lovely venue! As we arrived the piper started playing - I looked round expecting to see the wedding party - but no, we were just being personally piped in! The ceremony was performed upstairs, followed by pictures out on the steps and a champagne reception in the museum. We then moved back upstairs where the tables were set up. The food was lovely, we started with mixed melon and berry compote, followed by venison with a creamy bacon sauce. Desert was cranachan with brandy snaps. The staff responded quickly and effectively to my boyfriend's dairly intolerance, serving him vension without the cream, and sorbet instead of cranachan. After dinner we had a brief spell downstairs at the bar while the room was arranged for the celidh. The whole day proceeded smoothly - I would definitely recommend this as a wedding venue. The wedding party stayed at the centre that night, the next morning we went to meet them for breakfast- an absolutely fabulous full Scottish breakfast! Bacon, amazing sausages, eggs cooked as you like them, tattie scone, proper haggis, black pudding, roasted cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and toast... It certainly put paid to the post-wedding hangover!

  2. Outstanding service

Excellent food in the restaurant. I had my wedding reception here, and a year later we booked a table for our anniversary (without saying why we were booking or referring in any way to the event the year before). To our surprise they welcomed us as if we were old friends, asking how our first year of marriage had gone, and congratulating us on our anniversary. Now that's service!
