LA REGATA

Anyone who has ever been to "real" spain ( not the ex-pat colonies ) will recognise a true spanish tapas bar and restaurant. The food is superb , a la carte a bit on the pricey side but the quality is certainly there. The tapas steals the show though and the menu is comprehensive. Service is superb and the atmosphere a giant leap from the artificial dross you usually get from so-called spanish restaurants in the UK. this restaurant and "la esquina" in the oxford street area of southampton are two real gems for dining out. If you dont really like spanish food then stick to TGIs but if you understand the food of spain then this will not dissappoint. Yes there is a TV and its sometimes on showing spanish footy , but this is a SPANISH restaurant , not a pretentious olive bar.We eat there abour 6-8 times a year and the kids are well looked after and their favourites are the regional chorizo dishes and the seafood. Its situated opposite the red funnel grey eyesore in southampton and next to another superb eatery "Ennios".|Report this
